In today's world he would be persona-non-Grata, as the feminazis would piss and moan about him, even though they know nothing of NASCAR. And NASCAR, bowing down to the woke mob as they now do, would force him to attend "sensitivity training" (AKA woke indoctrination)

Tim represented everything that made the 1980's so great....... as he could have never been who he was in another decade. I miss seeing Tim race so much, he was and still is my all time favorite NASCAR driver.

Curious thought, I wonder if he knew at this point about his aids and that was the reason for his physical regimen and diet change? We definitely missed out on a great driver and even better era in racing. As a kid, I just remember that Folgers car ripping around the racetrack. So sad

He had no clue until he got sick at the end of 86. He had been ill on and off for months prior to being hospitalized, but ignored it until he couldn't ignore it any longer. In 1985 he was not showing any symptoms of the virus yet.

Had he not passed so young I wonder how many Cup championships he might have taken, he was definitely a natural Racer and in his comfort zone in a Cup car, wasn't afraid to mix it up but yet a clean racer, had he developed the win all attitude Dale would have been following Tim to the checkers in my opinion, just my opinion, not to take anything away from Dale bc he knew how to win for sure, with a good car and a bad car. I'm am glad I was able to be several tracks when Tim was in the Folgers car and the Old Milwaukee Car, at the 85 Southern 500 he finished with no hood and no front fenders and didn't slow down.

Earnhardt was great because winning was the way for the highest paycheck. Winning was everything. It was a matter of being the best and refusing to lose. Almost like a matter of surviving. Tim was just about the fame.

No, he ate meat. I read somewhere that around this time he was on a new diet. There was a best selling book that came out around then called "Eat to Win", it was how athletes could improve their performance if they ate certain foods, written by a nutritionist who worked with Martina Navratilova. I think it was high on starches and meat in smaller quantities. He was just training.
