Are we supposed to believe that people called into the show from their homes? I didn't see a phone number and it's not like this show was live. Donahue was the Vince Mcmahon of talk show hosts.

This is why "Donahue" became one of the top ten daytime talk shows of its day. No wonder it ran in syndication for years, from 1970 until 1994.

On the shot that the audience member took at Bruno Sammartino's son, David: I heard that David was fired because he hit a fan and almost caused a riot at one of the arenas. It was a case of 'roid rage.

If Phil was looking for ratings .. and this was 1992. Andre the Giant, Macho Man Randy Savage, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, and the Ultimate Warrior would've been on this program. The Phil Donahue Show, just like the company in the ad at the end, were not about ratings. That's why the Phil Donahue Show and WCW no longer exist.

@drvn8 It was on the radio in the early nineties on WSB 750AM in Atlanta. It was Wrestling with Jim Ross. Larry made it clear that he did work for Vince's father, but would never work for Vince. Larry did make his mark by hitting Bruno Sammartino with the chair at Shea Stadium. Now, when highlights of that card are shown, neither Bruno or Larry are mentioned. Larry had some good matches with Scott LeDoux in the AWA. LeDoux now has Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Well, Donahue really did try to be impartial. The questions the audience asked were absolutely ricockulous. The Donahue audience was not the right group of people to be having this in front of. I wanted to punch the lady in black right in the mouth for saying it was "sleazy". She clearly has no level of thinking beyond what the news tells her...same goes for the rest of the dullards throughout the crowd. Wrestling can be fake, art, beautiful or "sleazy" but to me it's absolutely spectacular.

Andre was probably sick, but the rest of the guys you mentioned were still working. Why would they agree to show up and risk their jobs for speaking the truth. Especially Hogan, who would more than likely get all kinds of pressure from the audience and from Graham regarding his drug use. I actually found this show rather interesting. I wish it was an hour long instead of 30 mins.

Two funny things in this short 5 minute clip: 1) 4:13 "HOW MANY HOMOSEXUALS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD?! REPORT THAT TO US!" 2) This serious discussion about child molestation, child abuse, steroid use, illegal activities including drug use, exploitation of workers, etc., in the WWF and then at 4:53-WCW. Haha.

@JamesRideout123 In this case, yes he was. To me everyone involved (with the acception of Barry IMO), all had an axe to grind. Like Bruno really pisses me off, saying VInce Sr. blackballed him? Vince Sr. made Bruno a lot of money! Murray Hodgson was exposed as a con-artist who had a rap-sheet. Even those who aren't there, like Billy Jack Haynes & Dr. D, are all bitter a-holes with an axe to grind. This is the one time I agree with VInce. But yes, other times he deserved certain scrutiny
