Great video as usual! Thank you for the knowledge. Dr. Woods, can you please list the Generic of the Garlon 3A and the Arsenal AC? I went back through your videos looking for the equivalent Herbicides but couldn't find where they were listed. I don't want to use the wrong combo. Thank you again!

Dr Woods, When do you use the hack & squirt vs double girdle? As always, keep up the excellent work!

Girdle and squirt works year round. Hack and squirt works best when tree leaves are fully formed until when the first leaves start changing colors.

Howdy there Dr Woods, how long before/ after rain can one use Hack and Squirt? It’s not on my labels!

Willie - Depends on the amount of rain, etc. The goal is to ensure the herbicide stays in thw wound created by the hack.

@@GrowingDeerTV asked my Dept of Forestry guy and he said back and squirt in the rain is fine - but not to girdle or cut stump. Keeps me in the field!

Why stop stump “growth”? MSU Deer Lab did a study on stump “growth” and found out there is a lot more protein in stump “growth”. They said the deer love it and it helps growth. After watching that video it seemed to make a lot of sense. I could see using it for a year or 2 and then do what you say. Just wanted to get your thoughts since they actually did a study on it and showed that there is more protein in it and that deer love it. Thanks in advance!

Works if you do one or two. You do a couple 100 they’ll get ahead of the deer and be a jungle.

Deer don't eat all the stump growth, you can probably leave a few just to see what they eat but I've cut .4 of an acre for a hidey hole plot and they haven't touched any stump growth and I'm going back through now and cutting again and treating with herbicide. I should also mention, I have ZERO ag fields around me and they still haven't really touched the stump growth. 125 acres, two food plots and a decent amount of forage in the woods. I fully expected them to eat the stump growth too.

In addition to the other replies, a mineral stump is only a good practice for a select number of species. Elm, dogwood, few others

Tommy's response is correct - a few are good, too many creates a mess and low quality habitat.
