4K Thailand Bike shop tour - KAZE BICYCLES is a Japanese bicycle brand based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. To be more accurate, they are a Japanese quality inspired bike brand in Thailand. Kaze (風) means wind, so the brand name literally means "ride like the wind"
We heard about Kaze bikes from our host and we happened to be cycling in Chiang Mai in the area and decided to stop by and look around since we are looking for a new road bike or mountain bike to use for cycling here. They have some really affordable bikes, and have become a top contender for our new bikes here in Thailand.
Kaze bikes website - ridekaze.bike/
Check the timestamps to see different parts of the bike shop / show room tour. A big thank you to KAZE BIKES for showing us around their headquarters and warehouse. They were really kind and answered a lot of our questions :)
They even gave Thuong a free bike fit to check her size for the road bike frames. She learned that she needs to improve her pedal efficiency.
They have some really nice road bikes and mountain bikes. Here are some of the bikes we looked at today.
- KAZE RACE Kansai 2
- KAZE RACE Kanon
- KAZE RACE Flash
- KAZE RACE Slash
- KAZE Mochi folding bike
KAZE RACE is their premium carbon racing bike line.
KAZE is their normal bicycle product line.
PEARL is their own branded bicycle accessories.

Congrats on the sponsorship! I just checked their website and their kansai and kanon bikes are definitely not $1000 usd. Kansai 2 with 105 (rim brakes) are 2000 usd. Kanon is 2505 usd, which is a bummer that it's twice the price mentioned in the vid.
@tlerapeepat8251
@tlerapeepat8251 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for visit our website. I work with Kaze. The price you found on Kaze website is international list price because we also having distributor and dealer network in some Asia countries so the price structure should be like twice time higher. However, that's true, USD1,000 of the Kansai2 105 rim was mentioned in video which is domestic retail price. I'm sure that you could get a bit more or less of this price if you buy within Thailand.
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! As Rapeepat mentioned, the English website includes the international export prices. The domestic Thai prices are almost half that if you buy within Thailand.

1000 USD is too much! I can probably get the exact same bike(without the KAZE logo, of course) for 899 USD, "somewhere" in China(where is frames are manufactured, I am not going to tell you where the factories are, ha ha.) See, bicycle component prices are jacked up for consumers the so called DIYers, the price the professional bike builders pay are way lower than the average end users. 30 years ago, a VCR being sold at an electronics store costs 150-200 USD to the end user, but what the retailer paid the manufacturer was maybe only 60-70 USD.

You are thinking about road or mountain bike, but have you checked out the mountain biking scene in Chiangmai? I know they have some, but not sure how much. If you go road, you might want to think about your gearing as the northern areas of Thailand are quite hilly! I tried to find mountain bike trails around Hakuba, Japan and really only found a couple of areas with minimal trails. So I sold my Trek Fuel Ex 9.9 and hope I was right😀

So that's a cool looking company. Professional set up. I like that white race version with the foil logos, though my current road bike is also white and its a color that is impossible to keep clean. Doing some poking on the website, it looks like the Kanon Race is about $4300 USD with a 105/Ultegra mix hydraulic. So that's definitely not entry prices, but its also not entry spec and for the components that's still pretty good value. A Tarmac SL7 ultegra Di2 is going to cost you around $5500USD before taxes and such. Is $1200 worth the full ultegra di2 setup? The 105 complete Kanon is only $2600. That's pretty good. That would be an Al frame in the US. The one thing I will say, considering everyone is skeptical of new companies, they did list the manufacturer of their frames on the description, Toray Industries. It seems they are heavily involved in aerospace as well. So, I'm guessing if Boeing trusts them enough for their jets, should be good enough for a bike. I think its cool that Kaze makes that information available
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 жыл бұрын
For some reason, the prices on the original Thai website are lower than the English website, so best to google translate that page if you are in Thailand. I guess the bikes will have to be marked up more though once they are exported. I didn't notice that they listed their manufacturer, so thanks for that information!

Getting a road or mountain bike will depend how good the road is to where you are and the places you want or planning to go to. Thailand and Vietnam road condition have huge varieties depending on what place you are going to unlike in Japan where 90-99% is smooth pave road.

What! $1000 for the carbon bike with the shimano 105 group set? Can’t beat that, the bikes are beautiful, couldn’t touch that bike for at least no less $2500 here in the states…I agree with some of the comments regarding Thoungs bike size, my girlfriend is 5.6 and she was fitted and sold a 52” frame only to realize later that it was a tad too big, she should’ve been given a 49, you can always get a longer stem if you wish to ride more a crouched position, you have more options to size your bike up as opposed to getting the larger option then you’re up the creek without a paddle.

I dunno about that kind of bike fit, my Neozigma bike fit was very similar in terms of the measurements to Thuong-chan's bike sizing. A 52cm frame, 90mm stem, 38cm dropbar and 167.5 cranks for me. What I'm comfortable with is (in Cannondale geometry) 48cm frame, 130mm -17 slammed, 40cm dropbar ( better for climbing than 38cm imo) then 165mm cranks so it's radically different from the professional bike sizing fit I experienced.
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 жыл бұрын
That's true, there's lots of different bike fitting methods and the science doesn't always work for everyone. This wasn't a full proper fit, but just to get an idea for recommended frame size. It might be good to size down though, hopefully they get some demo bikes for more size checking.

What's the biggest road frame size? Curious whether you think their Brompton copy is as good as your Mobot?
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 жыл бұрын
I think 58. They're phasing out their 3 fold bike and switching to the Machi model. It is a lot more different than the Mobot though, different folding direction, internal cables, higher handle extension. Also, it's half the price of Mobot, so killer deal I think.

Cruise was riding my Giant Defy Advanced 2 with disc brakes and 105 groupset, this year's model. I brought my wife's Schwinn hybrid out of mothballs for Thuong. I put some Shimano RS road wheels on it, with new 28mm tires from Decathlon, to help her keep up. She did fine, and never complained. I was on my Litespeed M1, carbon fiber with rim brakes and 105 groupset, 2016 model. If I'm not mistaken, Litespeed got out of the carbon frame business and returned to their core biz, titanium.

This bike was really easy to assemble kzfaq.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

If I may suggest, instead of getting an mtb or rb, why not ho the middle way? Get a gravel bike? Gravel bikes are a cross between am endurance bike and cyclocross bike. Fast on the roads, easy and more comfy vs rb or racing bikes, good for long rides, and can handle trails well. No, not aggressive trail riding like mtb's, but good enough to pass through rough roads or trails. The difference vs xc rb is they have lower bb, longer wheelbase for stability, slacker fork angle, etc. But they can go 40kph easy like rb's. And they can go 40c to 42c typical with some even going as wide as 50c or 60c! Most especially if you put a 650b wheelset in a 700c bike! But even on 700c, you can go 40c-42c easy. Go for gravel bikes. You won't regret it. You get the best of 3 worlds - rb, cx, endurance rb, and a little of mtb.
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 жыл бұрын
It makes sense. My last main bike was a CX bike, which I used to race on road and ride trails, which was great.
@melenriquez8985
@melenriquez8985 2 жыл бұрын
@@TwoWheelCruise I assembled a 2015 Cannondale CX bike frame about 3.5 months ago. Then I got a kespor gsx gravel bike with 11 speed x 46/34t crank with Sram rd and sram rival shifters. CX and gravel don't behave the same. The cx was more agile, more responsive. But the gravel was like an endurance bike that could handle the rough roads with its 40c tires. It was fast on the roads too, like an rb. But it was more stable. Kespor bike cost me about U$800. Since I use it more on roads, I find cx or gravel bikes more appropriate. Even if you find yourself in bad rough roads or have to go some trails, a gravel bike will have a better ride than an rb. But not as slow as an mtb or as heavy. BTW, the kespor weighed in at 10.5kg. Disc brakes, cable actuated hydraulics. If you want the all hydraulic 10 speed GX 400, it will set you back U$1,100 in our country. Same frame. Cheaper gravel costs with 40c tires here are around U$500 and U$600 for a Claris 8 speed and 9 speed sora respectively. Both 2x cranks. That is way cheaper but have lesser group sets. Not sure what you can find in Thailand, but best to pick a gravel bike instead regardless of brand. Stick to shimano or sram gs. Sensa brand gs is also ok, and that is sram compatible in action. But if you can stick with Sram, the better.

Gravel bikes are hard to find in Thailand. It's just not a thing here yet. When i was looking for a gb two years ago, I went to the main Specialized store in Bangkok looking for a Diverge. I was told they had had them, but they sold very slowly, so quit stocking them. I ended up buying a Diverge in the US and flying back with it. Same with my friends who have gravel bikes.

Thais seem to draw a sharp line between road and MTB. And you see tons of MBs that never leave the pavement. Thai guys will put smooth tires on their MBs. But, finally, road bikes have caught on. As Cruise noted, Kaze can't keep up with the demand.
