This video demonstrates the setup and take down of a Time Out motorcycle camper. The Time Out can be pulled with most bikes over 1,000 cc and it's suitable for use with cars and trucks, too.
P.S. - Don't be fooled by cheap imported copies of the Time Out you'll find demonstrated here and listed on eBay. This is the genuine, US-designed and made product. Cheap Chinese-made copies feature a brown canvas. Yes, they are cheap, and they are cheaply made too!

Have towed one from Kansas to Nevada, Utah, Az. and never know its there. Staying at State Parks usually Costs $6.00 a night, VS hotels/motels from $65-$100. or more. Did upgrade the Cam in my soft tail after one trip carrying my wife, T bag, and the trailer made it more difficult to maintain 70 mph climbing the Rockies. Other than that every where I go people gather around in wonder that I can haul it with my bike. Love not sleeping on the ground anymore.

I owned one for about seven years. We took it about twenty to thirty thousand kilometers a year around North America. We crossed the Arctic Circle a couple times, both in Alaska and the NWT's. and went coast to coast. It was comfy and my old lady loved it. It did pound the guts out of two 1500 cc Kawi Nomads though and it felt a little solid on my bike. Not quite as free as without it. Sold it to a couple with a small car for two thirds of what I paid for it.

I've looked at a lot of the mini-campers, and this is the roomiest. I don't have a motorcycle, but would like something to camp in that I can tow with my compact car.

I love my little camper! We haul it for just the lake due to skeeters. We use the tiny little "Artic Air" sold at Wal-Mart that cools amazingly well. They should be suggested with camper sales. .to make them more a pleasure for us on the south. The hard top to hold solar panels while traveling is awesome! We added a arm that slides out underneath to side for table just to have that option since people tend to show up and want to sit around outside and talk..and it's handy for little grill too! These are the best on the market! I had a different brand that a storm just soaked us and it blew all over. The purchase price of these seems a little bit much compared to a much larger conventional camper..but when you get to experience I e of these vs a tent or other brands..its a bargain! Looks darn good behind my vintage Indian bike..! No wonder we couldnt find one of these used..the original owners just won't give them up! The ONLY thing I'd change is that theu habe option for damp solar plug and a simple interior and exterior solar or battery light. We have added trick led running lights under just for night safety ( and it looks darn cool as it matches the bike). These are amazing!

It uses the same nylon tent material that any other tent uses, so in that respect it's as rainproof as any other modern tent. I treat the double-stitch seams with seam sealer, but that's all that's necessary. I've camped with it in some driving rain, never had an issue. And I'm very familiar with Florida rains. We spend the summers in SW Florida and as you know, you can practically set your watch by the afternoon thunderstorms.

Good question - I recently had the Time Out in an open valley between two mountain ridges which experiences sharp downdrafts when weather fronts move through. I had the l-shaped awning attached. Wind built over the course of the morning and by afternoon it was a steady 30 mph. I attached one rope to a grommet at the top of the tent, which is there for exactly this purpose. Overnight, wind gusted at 50+ according to wx reports and in the morning it was all still there.

We sold everything we owned and left Minnesota on two motorcycles and this Time-Out Camper. A couple of things folks need to know if they own one. 1. In a humid state you have to pop the top if stored unused otherwise it gets moldy inside. 2. Hauling this beast will eat up your rear motorcycle tire in about 8K miles. 3. You need a catalytic heater as it is so big inside that it gets very cold on a cold night. 4. The tent really needs to be folded tight to utilize the storage space.

Dale, very nicely done video! Beautiful camper too. Weather is a concern for us motorcycle campers. Wind can ruin a tent campers day. How does the camper handle winds. How do you rate it? Is there a way to fasten it down in a storm?

That Dale looks like a nice relaxed kind of guy. And the camper is for that reality check when even bikers get tapped on the shoulder & told 'time to give the bones more comfort'. It's certainly one way to prolong camping & biking, especially involving the good lady.

@Openroadoutfitters
@Openroadoutfitters 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone is afraid to say what they cost, you can easily find that on my store site. The reason it's not included in a video like this is because this video will be posted for years and prices will change over time. If I edit and repost the video to include the most recent pricing, I have to delete the first video, which would delete all the comments and viewing history. So it just makes more sense to leave pricing out of videos that will have a long shelf life.

What do you think about one of these being pulled behind a Kawasaki Vulcan 900? I know guys successfully pull 'piggy-backer' trailers loaded with camping gear, is this something a 50hp 900cc cruiser is going to be able to handle?
@Openroadoutfitters
@Openroadoutfitters 12 жыл бұрын
@mds9185 - The ST handles it well enough. On longer uphill grades, I prefer to drop down a gear. If you are traveling two-up or you just like a lot of inside room, I think it's a great setup. If you are mostly traveling solo, then I like the Mini Mate - empty weight is 80 lbs less and sets up faster.

I assume that such a roomy camper would be good for all kinds of travel. It was never mentioned in the video, but you could tow it behind a car, too, right? And is this camper, or a version like it, still available in 2016?
@Openroadoutfitters
@Openroadoutfitters 8 жыл бұрын
+badbiker666 Yes, a camper like this is suited for bikes, trikes and small cars. Of course a bigger car or truck could tow it even easier.

In a small unit like this, is there such a thing as a “rain cover“? I would love to get a tent trailer of any sort (for a vehicle) but living in the Pacific Northwest one can always assume it might rain, and in my experience, literally every time I’m packing up, it’s raining! Right now I don’t have anywhere that I can open up a tent trailer to dry out.

I guess you could put up a 10x10 or something like that over the campers. They use marine vinyl and acrylic-coated polyester (sunbrella) so they are pretty capable of managing wet conditions.

Beautiful little camper. What's the tow weight & tongue weight? My Harley Ultra shouldn't have a problem with the weight would it?
@Openroadoutfitters
@Openroadoutfitters 10 жыл бұрын
Tow weight on the Time Out is 340 lbs. and tongue weight is around 25. Your bike would easily handle that.
@Openroadoutfitters
@Openroadoutfitters 9 жыл бұрын
I do hear this pretty often. It really depends on the local dealer. I sell hitches for new bikes to a fair number of Harley dealers, so that tells me that it isn't a universally applied policy.

Is there a way to upgrade such as suspension, axle, and wheels? I'd love to pull this behind my RZR. I'm not looking at nothing to radical, just some mild trails in the mountains and I'm concerned clearance.

Not really a way to do that, at least not from Time Out. Of course anything would be possible in a custom fabrication shop. But probably not at a price that would be worth it.

Well it's obvious you do not have one of Americas Best (WORST) Trailers--aka--#1 Best (Worst) Trailers. That's a plus for sure. DO NOT BUY FROM EITHER OF THESE companies. They are one in the same. Jason is a lier and a thief. Call the BBB BEFORE YOU BUY one of these out of GRENVILLE SC. They are made in China and Jason assembles them ONLY-They are not made in the US as he leads you to believe. DO NOT BUY from either of these. He changed the name because of all the complaints with the BBB
