Brandon - The energy discussion is very interesting and I can relate to it. I have been tracking my gas bill for the last few years and it - as far as I can tell - tracks the mean monthly temperature irrespective of how much gas I use. My gas bill last fall jumped from 20 to 100 and then to 200 (over the holidays when I was out of town with the thermostat set low in the house). The gas company basically stated that I had a leak. Curiously this "leak" tends to appear when it is cold outside and disappear when it is hotter. Moreover, the house across the street from me (our gas main is in the alley so separate) sees their cost rise and fall in accordance with mine. Houses of similar size and configuration to mine in the neighborhood and other homeowners I have spoken with are seeing bills that are half of mine even though they have set their temperatures higher (while at home I run my thermostats at 60-65F). So aI very strange leak indeed. P. S. The gas company does not provide fine-grained data (just monthly averages) for me to see the details in the gas consumption. There is no way for me to see the daily consumption or spikes.
