I'll tell y'all what... used to go out on long stretches of land to run my horse full speed, and they few times I took him out running on an English saddle was a whole other level of riding! You have to be strong! Phew.

Horse racing is a great beautiful sport...the sport of kings...I admire anyone vying to be a jockey because it is a tough sport that requires a great athlete...I wanted to become a jockey when I was young...but maybe that destiny wasn't in my cards...but for those who want to be a part of this great sport and become the best at something you love...just do it.🏇

I thought this was really good so I decided to look up her jockey status. She made 18 starts in 2017 1- 1st 3-2nd 1-3rd. She hasn't raced since hope she is still working as a horseman in some capacity.

Joleen Pardo Keep your dream alive,Joleen... Know Every thing about the sport...Study horses and jockey techniques....I wanted to become a jockey when I was younger... Circumstances in life didn't lead to that destiny,..Got too big, wasn't raised around horses,live in deep city away from tracks ,etc....But being young you got a headstart... Keep in shape... Control your weight.....Hang around tracks... Better yet get to know people in the industry....Do it....Just learn more and do it... Don't hesitate on a passion..See you in the winners circle one day.....One extra advice,read everything you can get your hands on about famous racehorses, jockeys,Esp. Racing history.....It is special to be part of a beautiful traditional sport that is mostly misunderstood....Good luck, darling and keep your eyes on the finish line!!🏇🏇🏇

Amelia, I hope you read this. Posted May 13, 2023. Keep following your dream, don't let a man discourage you in any way. You are a jockey, and hopefully in the very near future, I hope 1 of those horse owners will put you on 1 of their horses to race in the Kentucky derby. Is it possible for someone like me who weighs 144lbs to drop it down to 105-110-118? I would like to know if it could be done in a safe manner and not a tour her one and, would I have a longer life span then the taller jockeys and how long would I live for if my average weight is 144lbs but I weighed 105lbs. I would have to loose 44lbs. Is that possible. Sounds not possible, but really!? If I worked at a racing stables and asked them if they could train me to become a jockey and said yes, what should I say after that, yes, no, yes? But I would be a short-term jockey if that's possible. I'm a newbie but am obsessed with this because I think it can be done which is really really really really coooooooooooooooooooooool!

Nick Drake you may have good possibilities,Nick....If you feel strongly about this passion seek it.....144 lbs.is not too far from apprentice or bugboy . Maybe at least 110 you gotta aim at ...If your weight goes down in a Healthy manner....You should hit out the gate and pursue your dream...I wanted to be a jockey when I was young...I mean I dreamt it every day and night... Circumstances didn't lead to that according to getting too big, didn't start out early in horse barns ,I just remember my dad taking me to racetracks as a kid..And I was in love....Look into it...Do it while you're young and your passion is on fire...Don't hesitate,friend...Worst thing to do.... Study the sport...Live it..Do it..See you in the winners circle...🏇🏇🏇

It matters more on your height. Most jockeys are around 5 feet or shorter, which is why they can weigh 100-120 lb without too many health problems. I absolutely support you in trying to get down and race though, no matter your height! Be the one in a million, who else is gonna?
