People *love* drivel disguised as something artistic and eclectic. "V for Vendetta" is a big one, in my opinion. The story itself was exactly okay. Not terrible, not great, but just okay. The things that bugged me were the ham-fisted political messages they beat us all over the heads with; and how dumb people thought it was such a profound film. It wasn't, and you're not bright because you memorized the monologues. Pre-teen girls have all memorized encyclopedias worth of song lyrics over the years, and throughout the decades of popular entertainment. So don't rip your shoulder out of place, patting yourself on the back for something children end up doing by accident.

C.K is right. The premise is absurd; Astronaughts work in Low Earth Orbit, a few hundred miles from Earth's surface. Communication satellites are typically in geostationary orbit, which is about 22,000 miles from Earth. SO there is no way that a satellite would be anywhere near the same orbit as where astronauts are.

Haha this is really great. The best part of the whole film was the trailer where you see what's going on with the guy in the arctic who doesn't speak a word of English, sitting there with his family and dog sleigh team, and that bit wasn't even in the movie! (You just hear it from...what's-her-name's..can't remember her name...point of view, in space, for a few seconds).

A therapist I met basically had the same hilarious criticisms (maybe listened to this/a big fan too?) but her main pet peeve she couldn’t let go of was something to do with Sandra Bullock’s pupils: when humans are scared they expand or something or maybe it’s the other way around? Anyways she’s supposed to be TERRIFIED and her pupils show the opposite which ruined it for her lol. I guess she works with people with anxiety, panic attacks, etc. and this helps her assess if she’s pushing people too far and in other ways and she said even though she knows it’s acting, she felt like it was half-assed. Made me wonder if a bunch of medical staff noticed this and walked out XD

The difference between truth and fiction is that fiction has to be believable. Sci-fi as a genre often has weak storytelling because of the fantastical bullshit required to fit the definition.
