Today, we explore a timelapse of the future, specifically future technology. How will technology look 1000 years from now? In the world today, many technologies are accelerating exponentially. Humans are discovering things that would mystify scientists even a few decades ago, but our progress resembles a blip in the grand scale of our technological evolution over the next millennium.

The problem with all these predictions is they are rooted in the ideas and trends and technologies of today. Go back and watch panorama and horizon documentaries from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s that tried to predict the future. Most got it horribly wrong. No one predicted that most of us would grow up spending most of our time, and most of our time interacting with the world, staring at a screen. You lost me at AGI in the 22nd century...experts in the field have drastically lowered their predictions for AGI/singularity to somewhere around 2030 (roughly in line with Ray Kurzweil's 2029 prediction from 20+ years ago), and even those are likely too conservative (continually moving estimates closer to the present). We're making exponential progress in compute power at rates 5x Moore's law in some cases. We're unlocking an intelligence modifier on an exponential curve and simply hoping to catch a ride on the wave instead of being left behind with our linear intellect

This is an interesting video, but it is a huge pet peeve to me when people say quantum computers are going to replace conventional computers, or that they're "faster" -- that's like saying that a new GPU or FPU is going to replace your computer. It's not. it's a separate type of processor that uses different methods to perform different tasks. If anything, when they come down to the consumer level, they'll probably end up being separate modules like your GPU.

really? i don't see any evidence of us controlling a fraction of our natural disasters or our weather. i think you'll have to add a couple more centuries until we can become a type 1

Enjoyable video. I love the positive tone and overall optimism. However, as with most videos like it, technological wonder is given full voice, but I would like to hear how it might change humanity. We already have the tech and means to eradicate poverty, house every body and fill every belly in the world, but we don't. From horse drawn chariots to chariots of fire both airborne and interstellar in the span of a hundred years, yet we're still throwing lead beads and monster rockets at each other over imaginary lines on a planet we're aggressively trying to destroy anyway. Looks like there's lots of cool tech ahead of us, but will we be worthy?

Love these type of videos, so much of today's tech I've read about in science fiction growing up. As a child even if you don't understand all the science behind it the concept is planted in the brain. I was in my 20s the first time I used a computer, my nieces and nephews started in kindergarten now kids have programs like Baby Einstein. Just thinking about the size of the first mainframe computer, to a desktop, to laptop to cell phone in less than 100 years is amazing. And now we have gotten to flying cars. Just thinking about the future makes me so envious that I won't live long enough to see it all..

Scary. I as a hardcore introvert abhor the idea of a hive mind and everyone being connected to my mind. I also don’t like the idea of turning into a cyborg. This video makes me depressed

Finché ci saranno i soldi

Imagine having a microchip in your brain that records everything and uploads it into a cloud. You're murdered. Before the murderers can even detach your chip the files are already being sent to the police. The murderers are then arrested and your digital consciousness has one of three options: 1. Live in the digital space 2. Have your consciousness uploaded into a clone 3. Have your consciousness uploaded into a robot. While the original body has died, a person can live on in other means. Future human rights thought: Does a clone have all the rights the original has/had? Like can you still own all of your property? Are you still married to your spouse "Till death do we part"?
