Timeline of how the Lakers Built a Superteam!

In this video, we see how the Lakers recovered from the Kobe Bryant era, through excellent drafting and contract moves. Later on, they used their contract moves to create cap space which they used to sign LeBron James and they used their promising young players to trade for Anthony Davis. And finally this season, they were able to sign Russell Westbrook!

I have seen a couple comments asking for videos on the Suns, Hawks, and Bucks. If you click on my channel you will see that I actually already made videos on all three of those teams, I'm guessing it just didn't pop up in everyone's recommended. Also are the Lakers a superteam? Let me know below.

2022 Lakers have the oldest roster in the history of the NBA. Many of the players on the roster are way past their prime and are too slow to play defense and will not improve with age. Who among these old timers could improve beyond below average defenders: Ariza, Augustin, Bazemore, Ellington, Howard, Melo, LeBron, Westbrook? Lakers need younger, better shooters, rebounders, and defenders. As a team the Lakers were below average shooters: 20th in the NBA in 3pointer%, 20th in the NBA in rebounding, 23rd in the NBA in defensive rating and 29th in the NBA in free throw%.

Like I said last year after the COVID short postseason. The team that stays the healthiest will win the championship. MIL was one of the healthiest teams without one of the fewest rosters with health and safety-protcol games that were missed by players. Lakers stay healthy they will win.

Ive seen many people say they finally became a superteam, I don’t see how they weren’t already a superteam in 2020. 2 top 5 players surrounded with veterans some with championship experience already, solid role players n shooters, and everyone could guard their man.

The Lakers COULD win it all however, there going to need to stay healthy and sign decent enough role players to surround their stars. If they can do that, I have no doubt that they at the very least win the Western Conference

Currently Lakers are superteam only on paper. They even didn't start to play together yet people are sending them to the finals. There are a lot of questions of how the pieces will fit together. It is not enough to just assemble a group of superstars to win a championship, 2011 Heat is example of that, Nets this season also were example. For me personally I didn't like the acquisition of Westbrook. I thought that Lakers should pursue and give everything for Lillard.

Few things that you left out, when the Lakers hired D’antoni they were contemplating bringing Phil Jackson back to coach that super team. Jim Buss stabbed a lot of people in the back by hiring D’antoni and that was a big reason Dwight left. Also the D’angelo filming scandal was pretty big too lol, he would have been a laker long term if that didn’t happen

But the narratives for the 3 players on the lakers are different compared to the 3 players on the nets. James Harden was really the only bad narrative on the nets team. And kyrie only had the narrative of him not playing. With the lakers its lebron is old and washed. AD is injury prone. Russell Westbrook has low iq,statpadder,and you can't win with him. Based on those narratives lakers wouldn't be a superteam. Like we see where its going the media dictates how most people should think. So most people roll with how they want to think. We just saying to keep that same energy either these 3 players aren't that good or they good. Just give them credit when they alone don't make a big deal.about them teaming up. Because now its like you don't want to admit you were wrong.

You got KD,kyrie,James harden, Blake griffin career was revitalized, potentially Spencer Dinwiddie if he wasn't injured, LaMarcus Aldridge before he retired, Joe Harris and excellent 3 point shooter. A super team goes way beyond who your starters are without any depth you're worthless

The Lakers lacked star power when AD was out and went down. They needed another leader and commander out there with Lebron. When AD was out for majority of the season, the Lakers didn’t have anyone else who could create their own shot. Russ provides star power but aggressive play to the court. The Lakers had no answer for when the Suns went on runs and Lebron was the only guy who could calm the bleeding. Russ can be that other star to stop the bleeding and AD can’t stay healthy.

Besides, Buddy Hield isn’t that very good. You’re either choosing between a walking triple double once in a generation PG or you’re trading for just another SG and 6th man who hasn’t lived up to his potential.
