Why the 2024 Phoenix Suns Failure was Inevitable

After signing Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, the 2024 Phoenix Suns seemed like Championship Favorites, but in the First Round against the Minnesota Timberwolves, they would get SWEPT.
You would think that a team with THREE of the TOP PLAYERS in the NBA would put up a fight, but when you’re BIG THREE are the EXACT SAME archetype (i.e., scorers) and make so much money that signing any significant role players becomes impossible, it’s no surprise the Suns failed as badly as they did.

What I find so weird about the NBA is it's both salary capped and salary minimum. And the range is so small. So it incentives teams with one star to give them this stupid contract which makes these larger market teams who want to acquire multiple stars pay absurd rates for players going into double luxury tax. It just seems like a failure of the system.

We didn’t need a video to know that 3 players with pretty much the same skill set weren’t going to work😂 completely redundant. You built an offense heavy team and hired Frank Vogel who’s a defensive minded coach. You traded your depth for KD AND traded the rest for Beal. Signed Jusuf Nurkic who hasn’t been a good rim protector since 2019. Remember when people really thought this was really gonna work?😂

Warriors didn't "BUILD" a big three.....they drafted all three of the players you used as an example!! & when they did get K.D., 3/5's of there starting line up was home grown!! So keep them out of the "built a big 3" conversation please!!
@HoopahZ
@HoopahZ 25 күн бұрын
I think you’re being over sensitive lol. Drafting players is still building a team. They were literally “rebuilding,” and chose amazing players that skill sets meshed perfectly with one another. There’s a difference between building a team and buying a team and I feel like I distinguish that by comparing the Suns (bought) and Warriors (built).

@@HoopahZnah gotta agree with the man there. When you say" form a big 3" its heavily implied that all 3 don't already play of the team, not homegrown draft picks. In fact no one ever uses it that way

I’m actually going crazy about how GM’s think that you should bring in 2 superstars with injury proneness. Like this isn’t even the first year, or only decade where this has been a problem. If you bring in 1 injury prone player, but he rest of the team are healthy, that’s completely fine, but their big 3 is like 2.5/3 injury prone. Devin Booker is right there, he’s almost injury prone with how often he was out too. Nba players can play 82 games before the post season, do you think it’s a smart idea to bring in a player who can accidentally break his ankle during warm ups? Unless he is LeBron or MJ, do not bring someone that fragile. It’s crazy how GMs actually still do this, and I’m willing to bet this won’t be the last time that a gm will create another clippers or suns team. I’m almost certain this is happening because Kawhi managed to come back after being on and off for like 2 years to win a chip with Toronto and then went back to not being able to play, and these teams think that could be them (which it won’t)

Book and KD wanted to play together after the Olympics why KD did what he did. Book needs blame for the explosion. Funny that even with ALL the hate on DA for his play he was never swept! LOL Book/KD or 0-5 in the playoffs! First year of all these super teams don’t workout so we’ll see what happens next year. Point guard is a excuse because Boston doesn’t have a one. Any trade where you are giving up first round picks after the player retires is insanity. When the dude you're trading for has a history of unhappiness and team jumping, it increases the insanity exponentially. I think the simple fact is KD may be the most overrated player in the nba. He can score like crazy, but when it comes down to demonstrating heart and putting a team on your back, he fails miserably. The only time where his success lived up to his reputation was at Golden State where he was insulated by the rest of the team. Draymond was right. The warriors won before KD and they won after KD. They didn't need him, he needed them.

People dont understand the Beal move. Phx had CP3, an old, overpayed player that didnt even play in the playoffs due to injury. If CP3 left, PHX would still have 0 cap space to work on rounding out the roster. They literally UPGRADED from CP3 to Beal by re-trading some draft swaps that had ALREADY been swaped. They got Beal for nothing.

Beal is the true definition of an empty stats player, not Booker or Trae. He is only useful when the offense runs through him to average 30ppg on a 8th-11th seed, the moment you put him as a second or third option on a team with expectations he becomes a glorified role player.

I called it during the off-season, the Suns had the perfect team after the Beal trade and they ruined their team for no reason by trading DeAndre Ayton for a bunch of garbage. I don’t care what the narratives made by 14 year olds online are about Deandre Ayton being “soft”. He’s a better player than Jusuf Nurkic, and anybody who would debate that is under the influence of drugs/alcohol. Suns got rid of a talented big man with first round talent, that already had chemistry with their team.
