Rahul Gandhi's BIG promise on caste census, will remove 50% cap on reservation if voted to power

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declared on Monday that if the INDIA bloc secures victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the 50% cap on reservations will be eliminated. During his Manipur-to-Maharashtra Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra rally in Ranchi, he also pledged to conduct a nationwide caste census. Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the contradiction in Modi's stance on caste issues. Gandhi asserted that under Modi's leadership, Dalits, tribals, and OBCs were marginalized in various sectors. He emphasized the need for a caste census as a crucial step for India. Additionally, Gandhi promised that an Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) government would remove the current 50% cap on reservations.

We need reservation for general category according to our population percentage, and you take your reservation according to your population percentage. 100% seats will be reserved for different communities if reservation increases. Why do you have a problem if your interests are protected? We pay a lot of taxes and we have some minimum right as well.

@@user-oo5rz8ln2i 1) In urban areas many SC STs are well off. My two best buddies are, one SC ST. One SC guy went to study medical with dad financing 1.4 crore for it without a loan. Another ST guy from North East, owns multiple properties and only his rental income is 70k no wonder does a ton of shopping each month. 2) My domestic help is SC, and her daughter eloped with some guy for marriage, left studies. The son is also not interested in studies, though their parents can support. 3) What we want is maximum support for the 2nd type of person, top notch schooling standards must be made accessible to them however living in urban area I mostly see it's the first example that hog most of the benefits. Very happy to see poor SC ST progress, if they progress nation progresses. But not happy to see already rich and benefitted class of SC ST receiving benefits generation after generation so why the heck should we compromise for them? We are paying taxes and can't work hard to feed the rich well of part of the mainstream SC ST.

@@Herefishyfishy843 बाबासाहेब ने केवल 10 सालों के लिए ही राजनीतिक यानी लोकसभा और राज्य विधानसभाओं में एससी/एसटी के लिए आरक्षण की व्यवस्था करवाई थी.' कुछ लोग इस तरह का दावा भी करते हैं कि हर तरह का आरक्षण केवल दस साल के लिए ही दिया गया था. इस दावे में ये भी कहा जाता है कि डॉ भीम राव आंबेडकर ने खुद ऐसा करने को कहा था.वर्ड लॉ स्कूल से कानून की डिग्री ले चुके और जिंदल विश्वविद्यालय में प्रोफेसर अनुराग भास्कर ने इस मुद्दे पर एक रिसर्च किया है. उन्होंने अपने रिसर्च पेपर में लिखा है कि डॉ भीम राव आंबेडकर ने कभी भी ये नहीं कहा कि लोकसभा और राज्य विधानसभाओं में एससी/एसटी को केवल 10 साल के लिए ही आरक्षण दिया जाए. कई मौकों पर बाबासाहब ने साफ़ कहा था कि आरक्षण को टाइम लिमिट में नहीं बांधा जा सकता. साथ ही उन्होंने एक प्रस्ताव पेश किया था जिसमें बताया गया था कि राजनीतिक आरक्षण की समय सीमा को संविधान में संशोधन करके आगे बढ़ाया जा जाएगा. 25 अगस्त 1949 को संविधान सभा ने उनके इस प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार किया था. अनुराग भास्कर के मुताबिक 10 साल बाद रिव्यु की बात केवल राजनीतिक आरक्षण के लिए ही कही गई थी. सरकारी नौकरियों में पिछड़े वर्ग को दिए गए आरक्षण को किसी समय सीमा में नहीं बांधा गया था.

Reservation beyond 50% is not correct based on caste. That 50% reservation if it implemented properly than those so called backward will become forward and developed &wealthy. 10% EWS quota should be given for those who do not fall under 50% Caste reservation quota.

This is crazy! Why do these mindless people not understand that reservation benefits no one! One major reason for the rise in umployment within engineering from India's so called premier government institutes is reservation! It only increases segregation among people and nothing else! If the party really does want to do something, create funds for people of ECONOMICALLY WEAKER SECTIONS, regardless or their caste, and provide them the necessary RESOURCES to become independent! I have a sister who is studying a government medical college. She tells me that the students who enter only through these reservations end up failing in the colleges. They don't have the knowledge to pursue such courses. When these students enter huge institutions, they end up feeling inferior because others have a greater knowledge bank and skills than them. And then Ultimately, they fail to get placed as the companies don't care about your caste. They just want someone capable. Reservation leads to a poor quality work force! This year the cut off of jee mains for general candidates was 93.23%ile whereas for lower castes, less than 50 %ile! Just imagine the level of difference between someone scoring over 93%ile(over 140 marks) and someone scoring 50%ile(less than 40 marks) A gap of 100 marks is a lot! The kid scoring 40 marks out of 300 is not yet ready to pursue engineering! It is a tough course and requires a good knowledge base. WHEN WILL PEOPLE UNDERSTAND?! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. I REALLY WANT TO FIGHT FOR JUSTICE BUT DON'T KNOW HOW! EVERYTHING HAPPENING IN INDIA IS WRONG. NO PARTY DESERVES TO BE IN POWER IN INDIA. NO ONE!!! I HATE THE CONDITION OF THIS COUNTRY RIGHT NOW!

This year I scored 92 %ile and I won't get any NIT seat and I didn't even qualify for IIT Advanced exam. Just because I belong to general category. A friend of mine at same percentile is heading towards NIT Trichy ( among best nit ) to pursue civil engineering because of reservation. I've decided to leave this nation as soon as possible where I will get equal pay for equal work. And now if you come to power and bring more reservation. I think brain drain will increase and all talented general category students ( who I think are a lot in numbers ) will leave this country just because of this policy.

Reservation should be given based on percentage of population. How come caste hindus who are only 10% end up taking 50+ reservation? Reservation in private sector is of utmost importance. Now govt is actively destroying govt jobs so that private sector could be cropped up which doesn't have reservation.

50% isn't reserved for upper caste, it's for everyone. The rest is for OBC, sc and st.

@@babla69420 so in reality govt Jobs are only 2% while private sectors have almost no representation of SC n STs. In that 2% Caste Hindus have 10% under EWS which is again unconstitutional. Now OBC take the main hit and abuses and SC n ST where quotas are never filled and half of the seats are taken by Caste Hindus under fake SC n ST certification.

@@rahulshine3317 yes in private jobs those who do believe in caste do choose mostly uc, but government jobs are 50% reserved for OBC, sc st and the rest are for everyone, gen, OBC, sc, st
