In the latest Nation Wants To Know episode, Anchor Swati Joshi Discusses Politics over Job. The employment growth in the country jumped by nearly 6 per cent in the fiscal 2023-24, as compared to an increase of 3.2 per cent recorded in FY2023, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) data. In FY2024, the workforce in the country increased by around 4.67 crore to 64.33 crore, compared to 59.67 crore in FY2023, the data, which measures productivity at the industry level, showed. Educated and deserving people are getting jobs.those not getting include people preparing for govt jobs,the highly uneducated and unskilled people who spend their day watching thirst videos on Instagram and those who really don’t want to work but are getting their internet recharged by their parents and cry on social media

If you want get a more useful growth rate that generates jobs then you need to step up reforms that liberate the MSME sector, especially manufacturing. There is a need for a state wise ease of doing business index adminstered independently by industry, press and academia. In India, there still is corruption in the civil service, especially at state and local level.

There is only one way to reconcile the data that both sides are giving - that the unemployment is high and growing in I.N.D.I.A. governed states, and low and falling in NDP governed states. Looking at West Bengal and Kerala the facts seem to bear this out.
