Image Transfer on a Harley Davidson Gas Tank "Live":How to apply a Waterslide Decal

Welcome to the Time Warp Custom Paint live event on our KZfaq channel! Join us every Thursday night at 7 PM California time for an exciting episode. In this episode, we'll be continuing our work on the Harley Davidson Sportster Tank that has been featured in the last two episodes.
In episode one, we started by laying out the graphics in a flame style pattern using LiME LiNE black candy. To create a vibrant, transparent purple candy, we mixed red and blue together and painted it in the flames with these colors. We then applied four coats of 2K premium clearcoat from LiMELiNE to give it a glossy finish.
In episode two, we showcased the process of laying out a 1-inch strip of Silver Leaf inlay using the LiME LiNE 1-inch leaf spinner. After another four coats of premium clearcoat, we sanded it smooth with 600 grit sanding sponges. Now, we're ready to lay out the waterslide decal.
For this project, we found an interesting waterslide decal on Amazon that claims no additional topcoat is required. The ink on this decal is waterborne, so once submerged in water, it simply floats off the surface and absorbs into the water. Normally, we would spray a clear basecoat on top of the ink to protect it, but tonight, we're testing out this new decal paper to see if it truly works as advertised. Join us and witness the results!

So not comparing what I do to what you do but 😅 been a Nail Artist for almost 30 years and have made my own water slide decals forever. The best way to transfer from the paper to your project is most definitely to slide it from the paper directly onto your project. When you lift it off like that you get that curling on the edges and the adhesive does like to stick to itself. You would have avoided those smudges and fingerprints as well. Obviously if you throw clear on first it makes it a bit more robust and less likely to curl, but the whole point of that paper is so you can save yourself that step 😊 thank you for the tutorial though, I’m just getting into custom painting and I appreciate the knowledge you share ❤

Print them out with the inkjet printer on waterslide, decal paper
