In episode 14 of our Door Slammer Build Series, we look at how the carbon fiber wing, spill plates and wicker bill are supported by the deck lid, wing struts and parachute mount. We also detail the benefits of a divided parachute mount and how it is installed on the car.

By far the best fabrication videos on youtube by far and your attention to detail is freaking unbelevable its always the lil things that make your masterpeaces what they are with no cutting corners and with nothing half ass put together evrything very clean and very tight. You cant help but to admire your work and craftsmanship through out the entire build all the way to the paint details. I am really not into drag racing but like a said wen you have that passion and hold your standards to that level you cant help but to apriciate what ever line of work it is you do. I also fabricate and your line of work is very simular to off road racing fabrication very simular through the hole cage and tin work pluming and even suspension to a certain point i guess that arms would be a bit longer and mounted more to the center of the frame down to the four link set up and heims evreyrhing just a bit bigger down even to the sway bars very very simular stuff or i dont know if its just me but thats the reason i could not stop watching your videos till i watched them ALL in one night . Once again great job like i said i dont know shit about drag racing and i cant imagine thers too many other builders putting out race cars at that level or better then yours i think you set the standards pretty high and im sure the big dogs are running with your equipment

Wouldn’t it be better if the shoots were lower and tucked under the wing to stop the shoots from breaking up the air on the back of the car coming off the wing

Is the aluminum body tube for the parachute anchor bonded to the carbon? In my research I have found that aluminum bonded to carbon will eventually corrode to the point of failure, and so steel or titanium should be used (if an alloy is needed).

Are you speaking in regards to the struts?

@@jamesplemmons4849 @6:57 he says the enclosure is carbon and glass then calls it aluminum. I’m guessing it’s actually carbon and glass and the aluminum was used to form the mold?

@@johnnifaria I'm sorry I was asking about your comment in reference to bonding
@johnnifaria
@johnnifaria 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesplemmons4849 Oh, well no it’s not bonding of the struts, but a ~2”x4” tube that’s bonded to the body. For bonding materials, it’s best to avoid aluminum to carbon. Steel and titanium to carbon is ideal.

Err, it isn't a wing, it's a spoiler. A wing has air passing over top and bottom surfaces.
