This is the Mk8 Volkswagen Golf R ‘20 Years’ edition. It’s celebrates 20 years since VW launched its first ever R which was the Mk4 Golf R32.
The standout features are the blue wheels and '20' badges on the b pillar but with this being a special edition it gets 328bhp from its 2.0-litre turbo engine up from 316bhp, making this the most powerful production Golf ever made.
So the big talking point is that the Golf R 20 Years starts at £48,095 in the UK, whereas prices for a standard Mk8 Golf R kick off at £42,695. Is it worth the extra cash? Let's find out!

Well done man. Good feedback and showcasing the agility on those kinds of roads. Some of the comments about the video, crack me up. Seems like most don't have the Golf experience in their lifetime, or are other manufacturer's fan boys.

50K is a lot for a Golf... But it is a special golf and I do think they are brilliant! I remember in 2013 thinking the A45 was expensive and that was for a Merc! :') Respect man!

Unfortunately the 50K £ is the basic one , top spec are going for almost 60K £

Nice Tim. £50K. Similar to the Audi Q3 loaded suv. We grew up on Golf’s. The original GTI, cabriolets, a must. Loved them back in the day. Golf’s will be here today, here tomorrow.

Lol no way for a very boring looking golf inside an out!!! A45s thanks!!! VW very badly need to step up thier game for the square looking golf that has basically been the same for over 30yrs!!! Maybe that's why they r stopping production of it in the very near future, and not b4 time!!!

They do seem opportunistically overpriced but, I guess, low mileage examples will have very good residuals. Maybe then, they are not such a ripoff and you can’t easily get a new RS3 anyway.

Out of the box the r feels very well balanced, compared to the 140i which doesn’t feel great when thrown into corners, chassis isn’t great without dampers or LSD…
