For most, physical and sexual attraction is an important part of choosing who to date or partner up with. Not so for asexual people, like the five featured in the video above, who can, if they don't also identify as aromantic, be romantically attracted to people but don't wish to have sex with them. Unsurprisingly, being asexual comes with its challenges: explaining yourself to friends and family, dating and finding a romantic partner, and feeling as if you fit in with your peers. But it's hardly a hopeless situation, because as you we hear, "You are not alone. There's a lot of us, and we will definitely welcome you with open arms.

Haha what's the deal with sex? Not too much, it's just the exact event that took place, resulting in your existence? It's a basic human need for the vast majority of us because it's how the human race exists. We're programmed to mate and sustain the population of our species. Nothing unique to humans or mammals in general. I respect you're asexual and I don't discount it one bit. That being said, I really get the impression you're not looking at things objectively and are possibly discounting my sexual desires and the importance of them. You deserve to live your life whatever way you want to. Anybody that ever challenged you on that is an ignorant bigot. It's funny actually, if I could choose I would probably decide to have no sex drive what so ever.

You have no idea how liberating acknowledging my asexuality is. I am almost 70 years old and I have been scorned, humiliated, mocked by my family and outright hated through my life. I have lost friends over my lack of sexual attraction. I have had the indignity of men trying to force theirselves on me to “ correct” me including a friend of my brother who encouraged him. I am so grateful to a lovely and adorable enlightened woman who, at a business party of all places said to me, after another said they didn’t know “what I was”, “ I know! You are a beautiful pan romantic asexual”. That simple gesture has made me so very happy. It was the best thing anyone has ever said to me! This is a wonderful new world for me!

I identify as asexual too. Every since like puberty age 11-16, I never can imagine myself having sexual intercourse with anyone. I get weird out to thinking about how my older cousins got pregnant. But, respect them for being a mom and having the strength to create a new born baby. At 16-17, I just searched up on Google about why do I feel that way. And, I find out about the term asexual. During that time, I thought that being asexual is less scarier than being the other sexualites : LGBTQ. Like it will receive less hate, because it just felt normal and right for me. But,I should not think that. Everyone have their own experiences. I should not make assumptions. I think that whatever gender and sexuality you identify with is your own business and life. Is your rights. No one should hate or make fun of you. Or even make you suffer. Is not right, we all need to be treated equally. 😊☺️🌈🏳️‍🌈

Asexuality does sound ridiculous. Bad enough every type of sexual deviant in the US has their fetish of choice public and celebrated largely thanks to Obama and his tyrannical supreme court; but now those with no desire for sex need to be recognized as not wanting it? Who cares? Maybe you were the most beautiful woman in your youth and every man wanted you; still were you really being assaulted or threatened with rape? Why would you have ever been alone with anyone in an intimate way as an asexual anyway? Asexual sounds like you just want attention.

That’s because it is impossible to truly have sex without some level of love, more so for women than men due to hypergamy vs polygamy theory. Sex is a part of love. It connects to people on a deeper level physically than anything else. My question for you is, are you opposed to kissing and hugging? That’s sexual, at least it can be. I imagine if you’re doing that with your romantic partner whoever that may be would take it as such. If so, that’s unfair to them if they are not asexual, I’d imagine they want to have sex with you. I’m not exactly sure why anyone here made this choice but I have two hypotheses unless someone gives me a hard answer: 1. You were rejected by the other gender enough to essentially become a MGTOW (gender less in this case of course) or 2. You were influenced by such an unhealthy view on sex or had a terrible first experience and now you’re against it. If it’s the latter, I’m sorry for your situation. I am free to talk platonically and intelligently if you want to discuss why there’s more to factor in. If it’s the prior, well that sucks. Getting rejected is a terrible feeling and I’m sorry for your loss but there’s plenty of fish in the sea. Judging by your name, you’re a female. Do you want to have children some day? It’s ok if you don’t, I don’t want children either, but I’m also not asexual...

Personally I find it really sad that Hollywood has linked every form of love to sex, not every romance has to include sex. It’s not just Hollywood but Netflix too, I would really like for people to also represent a non sexual relationship. I am also asexual and sometimes it just makes me feel really misunderstood because a lot of people don’t know what it even is or think it’s weird or temporary and they most definitely have never seen it anywhere in movies and so one so they only know about it when I explain it. Please stop forcing sex in romantic relationships, sex is a choice not a duty.

Of course it's hard to understand. Our culture, psychology, instincts, education etc. are all based on something else and 99,9% of humans feel totally different towards it, have deep sexual desires. Don't get me wrong, people should do as they please and if they don't want to have sex, nobody can say anything against that or God forbid force them to. But obviously it is an irritating, totally uncommon thing and clashes with a lot of what has been established as fact about the human psyche (urge to pass on life, erotic thinking and so on). But there's nothing wrong with that either. Nobody is normal in every way. You know what I mean?

Same. Not many of us out there, and it was darn confusing growing up with non-ace friends. "What do you think of that girl? Is she hot?", "I don't know, her skin is nice.", "No, like would you bang her?", "Why?". If people ask, I tend to say I'm straight just to keep things simple. I want to keep relationships professional, I've got no concealed agenda with other people, so why attract attention to myself? Not to say I'm ashamed of it, if I'm with a person I click with then I'll be open about it, but there's no need for work to know this. I'm not going to cause trouble, that's all they need to know.

Whilst people talk about having girl/bog friends, i actually brag and embrace to others that i am Aromantic and Asexual. My Perspective: Me as an Aromamtic Asexual, i have never kissed anyone not related to me on the lips or cheeks. I have never dated. I have never had sex. I am repulsed by sex and find kissing absolutely disgusting. I find watching porn for entertainment or to masturbate the most disgusting thing ever. I don't mind hugging, holding hands, high fives or pat on backs. I still Masturbate (i see it as a stress relief activity rather than a sexual one)

Some asexuals to have sex, others don’t. Some have found out they were asexual through sexual encounters and others, such as myself, know they are asexual without needing to put themselves in a sexual situation. There are sex positive asexuals who are willing to try having sex with someone close to them.

@@rachelgreen4510 I've had sexual experience, mainly due to curiosity and pressure from others and society, and learned sex was not enjoyable, as I simply had no desire. I do not think Asexuals are rare. How many women and men throughout time have simply gone through the motions, so to speak, in order to appease others and fit into society? I'm willing to say numourous! Growing up listening to older generations I knew of many women who did not enjoy sex at all, but did it because it "was their duty".I think it's beyond time that changed and for people to accept that sex is not for everyone and it's okay. You can still have a beautiful life without sexual intimacy.

It's strange how people can't separate love from sex. You can desire someone romantically and love them without having sex with them. I find it close minded to assume there's only one way to physically express love for each other, and that way is having sex. It is just as hurtful to fall in love with someone and get rejected for not wanting to have sex as vice versa. There needs to be a bigger understanding and some dating apps for asexual people.

wwwhoknowscom Many of us allosexuals mentally associate sexual and romantic attraction and it’s hard to see them as separate. For me I almost always experience them concurrently. I would describe romantic attraction as a strong desire to become part of someone’s life, be with them all the time, learn everything there is to know about them, share all your dark side, and in general be physically/emotionally intimate in a way that would feel inappropriate in a friendship. I would describe wanting to be friends with someone as “hey this person is cool I wanna get to know them more” and romantic attraction as “this person is amazing, I feel so happy around them, I want to be with them all the time and know everything about them and play a large role in their life” It sounds kinda creepy and obsessive because it is 😂

@@bananewane1402 you said with romantic attraction it was in general, to be physically and emotionally intimate that would feel inappropriate with a friend. This can lead to holding hands, cuddling, kissing, and even marriage and raising kids just as really good, warm, loving friends. I like to think of it as a super friend. You may be aro/ace if you're looking for a (platonic) relationship that revolves around warm hugs and cuddling on the couch under your favorite blanket while watching finding nemo on repeat and eating ice cream. I genuinely get so angry and filled with so much disgust that🤐🥴 Couldn't really find a really deserving and fitting word for these behaviors. Fortunately for you if you are one of those incompetent men then count your lucky stars for today at least that you aren't anywhere near this volcano 🤨😖 A question that I always ask but no one really answers 😑 so anyone who has anything to add or point out please feel free because I would really like an answer to this......i can't even think of a name to address these people 🤦‍♀️ If these men have this ideology of being better, smarter and more intelligent than females then why is it so hard for them to at least give them a fair chance at presenting their case because since you are so convinced that you are better and higher than a female then regardless of the outcome you should have the balls to actually side with the truth?😒 I mean come on if being physically strong was actually considered even 2% as important and real meaning in the world then how is it possible that whenever you have an emergency regardless of the profession the person on the other end is more likely to be smaller than you and yes that goes for Male too. Why can't you fix this problem? Aren't you supposed to be the one who knows everything and the one who really doesn't need the opposite gender?🤔 So you should be fine lol well that's actually pushing it because you are probably in tears at that moment and is convinced that you dying. So please clear my misconception about how that is in any way a logical or common sense to these men?? I mean I know unfortunately their insect sized brain can't think beyond anything but how to just keep on stopping the opposite gender from ever breathing without your permission 🙃 because of the fear of them realizing that the power they possess is far more bigger and higher than your mere physical power so in order to still maintain this well kept ideology and is as old as time itself you will do everything in your so called and self appointed ruler head that it doesn't matter if it even means you will die but not be treated by a female doctor then I honestly do hope God sends a way or miracle to really gift these men with some more brain cells 🙏🙏 Because if Corona a virus that can't be seen in a physical form can turn the world upside down then i mean even though some of them would like to call themselves God unfortunately they are mere mortals and not in any way difficult for God to change their twisted heads but let's face it if all the world's problems were solved and people lived in harmony then it will automatically lose the desire to grow and thrive and when that happens boredom sets in and whatever else I'm no scientist or doctor but I can say with confidence that humans need a constant stimulation to really function stay sane. Otherwise we will all just end up crazy because peace and coexisting without greed, envy and all of the traits that add up to most of the problems existing are being caused by then we will have to wait for heaven. I hope this makes sense to anyone 🙏 if you agree with me and or even come close to the way i perceive the world then please send me a message 😊🤗 I'm dying to even talk to let alone meet someone who understands my way of seeing things because if not then I'm probably crazy 🤷‍♀️🙈

I can never recall feeling sexual attraction, and it is challenging for me to understand how people experience it; how people desire to engage in these activities. Whenever I fantisize about myself being with a girl, I always imagine us acting the same way we would act as friends, just with some romantic elements involved sometimes. But I am simply unable to involuntarily imagine us doing sexual stuff, and when I do it voluntarily, it always makes me uncomfortable.

My mom came out as asexual this year.... She is 72 y/o and has a deep platonic relationship with my father. They both have said that this makes so much sense, but there weren't labels in their generation. She was surprised and delighted to find out that she has representation amidst the LGBTQIA+ .... Which makes sense, because she has always been a supporter and positive parental role to LGBTQIA+ orphans. I'm proud of my mom, and my father's grace and understanding. something i hate about being asexual is when people just automatically assume i'm a sex hater or will never have it. asexuality is a huge spectrum with many other terms falling under it. being asexual means i have NO/LACK SEXUAL ATTRACTION. When i look at a person, i don't find them sexually appealing, but that doesn't mean i don't like sexual activity. sexual activity only comes into play depending on the person who's asexual. some asexuals love doing sexual activity and enjoy it, some don't find it appealing, and some just find it neutral !

Can I introduce you the concept of queer-platonic relationships? It is an umbrella term for committed partnerships that fall outside of romantic/sexual attraction. One example would be lifetime roommates who combine finances, another would be best friends who choose to raise children together. There are many people, Asexual-Aromantic and otherwise, who have relationships they customize this way. The most important things are communication, consent, boundaries. That being said, staying alone isn't such a bad thing either. Society is built in favor of couples, and being chronically single does come with hurdles, but friendships and family are valid as hell and there are more and more ways people are learning to come together and support each other through life outside of traditional categories for relationships.

This is super comforting to watch. I'm not entirely sure if I identify as ace or any similar label to it, but all I know is that since I was young I only had a few crushes (only on people I really gotten to know), never on celebrities or cartoon characters, and I was never interested in dating throughout majority of my school years until I got my first and only boyfriend when I was a senior. I have desired sex at times, but most of the time the thought of it makes me cringe and squirm. You'd think that'd be normal within the first couple months of dating... but it's been 5 years now and we're both still virgins. Whenever the topic is brought up (especially when I hang out with my sis and her friends sometimes), I feel so disconnected, sorta embarrassed, and that I'm missing out in some way kinda? Don't get me wrong, my bf hasn't pressured me at all and has been the most sweetest, lovable, and faithful partner, but it's mainly me who's making me feel guilty because of how much time has passed. At the same time, I think of how blissful it'd be (well, has been) that I don't feel pressured by him to do it. How things should be in every relationship. Now reading these comments, watching Tik Toks, and overall seeing how other people felt this way doesn't make me feel like something's wrong with me anymore. I've had so many people shit on our relationship, or say that he's cheating when I know he'd never do that. Such single-minded people who couldn't expand their brain just a little. Anyways, I wish the best for anyone who does or doesn't decide to read my ramblings. lol I just want to say that you're valid and whoever hating on you is purely jealous and ignorant. Fuck the haters and love you all! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

I came out as an asexual in April 2023, and I found that out because of this video. I have never been happier, as I can't bring myself to be in a heart braking relationship. Thank you, Tinder, for uploading this amazing video. Xxxx😘

Love that this is out. My one aunt is in her 70s. She and my uncle have been together for nearly 40 years and they've had sex maybe a dozen times. Neither of them really feel the urge, they enjoy each others company and have a good life and she always felt like she was "broken". I'll have to show her this.

You're taking a view of the relationship based on what your aunt said? By the initiation of menopause, sexual libido drops for most women, it's normal (a little later for men). How would she even know if she enjoyed it when she was about 30? If both (I doubt it's both, likely just her) don't enjoy it, they wouldn't even have sex (almost all old couples stop having sex). "feeling broken". Big talk. Does she actually love him?

@@raylevi5343 She's been married for forty years. She and her spouse are most likely on the asexual spectrum. It's not just now that she's older. It's been that way for years. The reason asexuality is a real orientation is because it's a life enduring trait. Reading comprehension is very important. Please reread the post and understand they are both asexuals.

I've been married for 19 years and honestly the sex I can take it or leave it. Sex is a chore for me, I don't really like being touched it makes me uncomfortable. My husband does understand and doesn't ever push me to have sex thankfully. We have sex a few times a year and we do have one child. But I'm just not really into it and never knew it was an actually thing and there were others like me.

Ngl I got teary eyed watching this. The thought of sharing my body with someone else creeps me out, and I thought that it's abnormal to feel like that. Now I know there's a name for it, and I think I understand myself a little better now. I can relate to Emmanuel, attracted to both genders but not sexually.

I am in love with reading these comments :D But I can't imagine not telling a possible love interest that I'm ace. Every single person I meet doesn't like it in a relationship They'll say they're okay with it at first, but then realize they actually do wanna have sex. Or like they said in the video, some people think they can change you? I refuse to date any sexual person, so I'm only interested in other asexuals U_U But yeah, why DO people care SO much about sex? Cuz they can love someone without knowing they're ace and then once they say, "I don't wanna have sex", they don't like the person anymore It seems so fake? Like they are only in it for sex Sex is just an activity. It's like saying, "I don't wanna hike, I don't like to". Then getting upset and leaving a person over it. Idk, I just think it's dumb (I like hiking btw)
