I am building a 576xp right now, I just used 1/2 allthread a few 1/2" nuts and 2 1/2 all thread rod couplers. screw all thread all the way into the coupling nuts, put 2 nuts on the rod exposed. cut it to a length that fits between the case in 2 separate spots preferable 180 degrees out from each other. then just use 2 cresent wrenches turning the all thread out of the coupling nut. pushes it right apart. put one piece where muffler sits and other where handle and gas tank run on back side.

I wish I found this video after I hammer split opened my Stihl MS341 😅 well, it happened, not sure if the case body is still good cause I hammered that one. It didn't open so I took a bad nut to screw it a bit to the crankshaft flywheel side and hammered it down and it split apart. Anyway, it's my experience I guess will check tomorrow if the thing is still good

Hey buddy I'm sure you know this, but figured I would put it out there. Usually when I have bolt heads full if stuff I will put the tip of my blow gun right up to the head and it usually cleans the heads right out. If need be scratch at a little first with a pick. Anytime I tap the bit in, it really packs that stuff in and makes it tough to get out. Just figured I'd throw it out there. Really enjoy the videos buddy!

Tinman do you ever or have you ever tried the ceramic bearings? They say they are good for 30,000 rpm and give the saw 500 more rpm plus run cooler etc. The cost is the only factor a set of bearings for a MS461 Stihl is around $100-120.00 compared to SKF bearings.

I have a Solo 681 completely torn down - case gasket was bad and it was letting oil from the chain reserve leak into the crank case. I need to replace its clutch as one of its springs was broken, but I'm unable to find a source. Would it be possible to use someone else's clutch on this machine?

Hey tenman please answer this question if u got time but in the late 90ds what saw would keep up with loving not hot saw. I have a husq 45 husq 55 and they have been great saws for a long time with me. But I tried a brand new 261 c Stilth chainsawsnd it was a dog in bucking wood with it. But i tooned it with jet seething and it did ok. But I could never get my mind off my 45 and 55 husq saw. They ran circles around the stilth chainsaw I want to step up just a little bit higher saw and I know u can point me in the right direction. because I have bigger trees to cut down down here in Georgia and I need a little more saw and I was wondering what you recommend on the Husky side to buy used down here to make a great saw I love it I don’t need no rocket ship I just need something to cut wood quick fast and puts a smile on my face any info you can give me back I would greatly appreciate it and I wanna thank you for taking the time out of your day to help us you’re a great guy and I appreciate everything you do keep it in the wood my brother.

..split a crankcase?..three sharp wood chisels..drive one in the bottom at the split, one at the split on top of the oil tank, and one at the top rear of the crankcase..drive each one alternately about 1/8" at a time, until you can pry the crankcase apart...believe it or not, I have actually seen this done before.. :0 ....not a pretty sight!...
