I love his thinking, not everyone wants a communal fire pit, yoga or whatever, I just want to be...alone with nature...

For those being negative about this being a business... This is a great way to come and experience the space firsthand for those wanting / considering this lifestyle or possibly considering this idea as a business. Tiny houses aren't for everyone but are for many just as this kind of getaway isn't for everyone but is for many. How about sharing your opinion in a better light instead of putting the business and it's owner down. It's okay not to want to experience this getaway without the need for the insults.

I love the big window frame. Framed serenity. Easy. Simple design.

This makes me grateful for the balance in my life. I commute 20 minutes to work, my back yard is nothing but trees, my dogs can run in my yard, I don't look at my phone all weekend (other than to check up on family) and I can barely hear the road from my house. I hope other people get a chance to live that as well.

This is great!! I live near a busy highway and when I visit freinds who don’t......first thing I notice is how the quiet invokes a very reflective peaceful state of mind. Like daydreaming.

I grew up in central Nebraska in the 60s'-80's when there was room to run and explore and just be a kid without worrying about anything except getting home before the. Sun totally. Set! Living in a big city has NEVER been an option ... I cannot imagine what a different llife it would have been ! I bet it is like stepping into another world for those who have never been out of the. City!! Bless your heart for having the insight to share the common experience(s) of "being" a part of nature....it has always been a spiritual experience for me and lets' hope it is for your guests as well!! I've always related to this. I live in the Rocky mountains and when I go camping everyone is in a rush to go do things and half the time I just want to chill and enjoy the sounds and sights of what's around me.

I have had this very idea in my head for years. Was so excited to see there are others who feel the same way. I grew up in a log cabin in the woods, no neighbors and miss it very much. Technology has made us spoiled and created an addiction within us. Its robbed us of the very beauty right before our eyes. We need to put down our devices and look up, see the beautiful world before us. I hope to one day have a place similar to this. And if you want to start a business in Idaho, I'll manage it for you. ;) Great video, thank you!

Nice video, even if it was just an opportunity for him to plug his business. To all the people hating on the hipster for his lack of bushcraft skills and such. Congrats, you just became hipsters yourselves. Nobody cares if you’re making “real” campfires with a bow drill. Certainly not anyone in his generation. His business just might be the perfect introduction for these urban millennials to get outside their cities and off their devices. I know as a father of two teens daughters that hate nature. His cabins would be an easier sell than staking tents and sleeping on the ground. Gotta ease people into the concept.

Fortuitous timing on this video, Kirsten. We had plans to camp for 3 nights on the Skyline Drive, however the threat of thunderstorms for 3 days led me to look into getting last minute reservations at "Getaway." Great way to experience a tiny house in a relaxing environment. Our first night was a deluge of rain, and we were nice and cozy. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Conveniently close to the Skyline Drive. Thanks for posting the video, as always! :-)

This reminds me of a trip we took to Colorado a few years ago. We rented a cabin in Allens Park, a small town outside of Estes Park. We thought we would spend a lot of time in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park but the front porch of that cabin was so meditative, with a gurgling stream and such beauty to look at we spent most of our time there. We did drive through the park one day and I took my horse loving youngster on a trail ride, but other than that we just enjoyed the cabin.

For the people that know how to camp, make fire etc. this concept is pretty strange. But for many people in the city this a good way to learn how to camp and re connect with nature. I live in a forrest and think it is positive and also a bit funny: ‘MyFirstCampfire’ ; )

Well, I live in a wooded area... no landlines and no tv... I’ve chickens and fowls and outside cats and vege gardens... at night, all I can hear are crickets and frog noises and other small animals.. noise level very low to none at night coz there’s no lights on the road.. pretty nice simple lifestyle ... feeling blessed...

Wow! This is exactly what i've wanted for decades! Grew up in the woods in Michigan, with a small family farm at the edge of the forest. Even had a small creek. The most wonderful way to live, and to me, the only way. Wish I hadn't ended up permanently disabled and on SSI at just 29 years old, and had been able to buy a small piece of land to do this on. Now that I'm 61, pretty much alone, and can't manage a larger house anyway, it would be so perfect. Hate the city so much. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your wonderful projects here, absolutely wonderful!

I love the design! I love the setting. Don't change. There are plenty of "group experience" places available for those who crave that. This one is for people like me who are just peachy fine being by themselves in the quiet woods going for walks in the day and curled up with a book in the evening.

I've long wished for an entire city neighborhood like this. I feel like our urban design across north america is all wrong. By all means clear out space for the commercial areas as needed but residential should feel natural. Like a camp ground. We can have most or all of our modern trappings without living in a standardized template.

I don't think "being bored is what you want to achieve. What you should do, and maybe what he actually meant, is "being in the moment" or "being present" (like the buddhist teaching "here and now") - NOT being "bored". Boredom is when you're thinking about and being distracted by things you're not doing and want to do. So your mind is somewhere else instead of enjoying/appreciating the moment, the task, the surrounding, etc.

I love and Agree on this way of living. Whether it's for a holiday or just a simple getaway. I think his Keeping Cell Phone Lock box bit is a genius thing and also a challenge for society getting away from the world/Social media and we all are trapped in and addicted to.. I'm 71 yrs. young and am not understanding so much negativity re. this video and the young man who developed this lovely property? I think it's positive: 1) for those wondering what it would be like to live full time in a tiny house. 2) to give folks an opportunity to truly enjoy nature and unplug from the world. 3) the idea that making money doing something you're good at and love doing is really ok!!! I loved this video! Thank you for sharing. Completely agree that people are literally "starving" for time to simply unplug and do nothing for a change...For those who do not want to camp, or do not have all of the gear needed to camp (which can all be expensive) this is the next best thing.

Pricey, but I think the deal is that there are many people who can't camp -- if they tried they would spend a few grand on gear and be frustrated trying to use it on a 2 day getaway. Case in point: The couple locked their keys in their cabin... in the middle of the woods. There's nobody to steal your things, but the habit remains. The obvious goal is to turn the anxious thoughtlessness into intentional thoughtlessness for the purpose of relaxation. Some folks may be the best software developers or data analysts but not have a clue how to start a fire or how to relax lol but it's true! It seems that they offer a different sort of concierge to have guests attempt to relax by doing as little as possible, Im sure folks enjoy it, and I imagine that many more similar sites will pop up as tinyhomes/cabins become more refined and cheaper to mass produce (ironic...) Having grown up in a rural area middle of nowhere forest I remember my ears ringing from silence. After moving to a small town to work I forgot that tinitis was a thing until coming back to visit. There really is a sound of silence and it IS a deafening roar. It's possible to affordable live like this, but we're all tempted to try to do "better." Better for some is having an home in the woods on an awesome creek with a huge garden, but many sacrifice ability to produce great income as a result. We're very fortunate to have the opportunity to choose our lifestyles, and I think it's great that he's offering a temporary option geared toward urbanites while producing some honest income, building assets, that's honest work to me.
