Tiny Home Build - Part 2: Trailer/Subfloor Insulation Installation

Welcome back! In this video, we're installing 2 layers of 2" thick R-10 foam insulation board in our trailers, for a final insulation value of R-20. NOAH certification code requires R-13 as a minimum insulation value for tiny home subfloors. This is a pretty seamless process, provided your joist member spacing is consistent. Cut them just right for that satisfying friction fit! Stay tuned for subfloor installation!

I maybe would have used some foil faced insulation with the foil side facing down just to help protect the bottom from road kick up during hauling. I'm not sure if I'm thinking right there or not. Looks good though!

I had the same thought, but if all goes according to plan, these things will only hit the road once for about 20 minutes. If that changes, we may add a little more protection underneath. Thank ya sir!

Not sure if this will help as I do not know in what state are you, but a while back I found guys that did spray foam on FB marketplace, they have done insulation for many of my residential properties now and are great, and I got a quote for the spray foam of the whole house, (8x24) floor, walls and roof $1,500 not sure if you think it's a good deal, if you will probably spend as much as that on the whole tiny house, but looking forward saving a bit of work, due to my trailers being an hour from me and need to sub a lot of the work.

That's roughly what I'm expecting to pay per house, but that's just based on a wild guess. I haven't reached out for quotes on that yet. That's something I'm definitely leaving to the experts lol. We are right on the TN/AL line.
