Covering the ins and outs of framing a tiny house on wheels. This is a very similar process to traditional home framing, with a few exceptions. In this video, I’ll explain what it takes to frame a tiny home on wheels in accordance with NOAH standards and certification. Palm nailer... palm nailer is your friend when you have to do a ton of hurricane ties like that. Or an actual strap shot hanger gun, but that's such a specific tool it's easier to just have a small palm nailer in your tool kit 👍

Use larger Square washers on your hold downs. The square washer have a slot so that even if your anchor bolts are not centered well they will still work. Also they make a nail gun for Simpson ties. It will save several hours on your build.

You mentioned 4 foot stud spacing a couple of times where it looked like where you were talking about it they were maybe 2 foot ??

I was probably referencing the threaded studs that bolt the bottom plate to the trailer. The wall studs are 16" OC, and the rafters are on 24" OC.

Is that 2x4 studs in wall and is 2x6 used in studs like they are in normal house construction ?

We used 2x4’s in the ceiling as well to maximize the height inside.

What is the nailing/stapling pattern for sheathing and house wrap?

For the wall sheathing, its 4" on perimeter and 8" in the field. For roof sheathing, it's 3" on perimeter and 6" in field. House wrap pattern was roughly 16" spacing everywhere, but this isn't super critical as long as it's held down flat.

what is the Hight under your loft?

It goes from about 75” on the high side to about 66” in the low side.

would be interested in how you and your dad raised the walls. Did you make shorter sections to make it easier to lift onto the trailer and secure it? If so, you must of used a bit more lumber to tie each section together. Reason I ask is that I'm hoping to build a tiny on my own.

We just muscled them up. Basically set the bottom plate up on the trailer with some sort of stop to keep it from sliding. Then we just picked up from the top, and walked them up. I’m sure there are some better methods, but it worked for us!
