“We’re all trying to restart our lives. We have fallen down, and we’re learning how to get up again,” says Karen Carter. She is a veteran who lost her home after she got divorced. Today, she lives in a veterans’ village made up of tiny homes in Kansas City, Missouri. It’s a neighborly place where people look out for each other. Mark Solomon, a REALTOR®, co-founded the Veterans Community Project, using his skills as both a real estate professional and a veteran to provide transitional housing to veterans who need a fresh start.

Too bad we don't have a program like this to solve homelessness nationwide. Studies show that just putting a roof over homeless people's heads helps the community, and it's the moral and humanitarian thing to do.

@Broly The Sarcastic Savage Same. I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll find many other places in the world, where a home of this size is called a tiny house. I'm from Denmark and is doing fine financially, and I have just a bit more space than these 'tiny' houses. A bedroom with enough space for a bed and a closet - 6m2 / 64ft2, a kitchen - 5m2 / 55ft2, a bathroom - 5m2 /55ft2 and a living room - 9m2 / 97ft2. I don't want more space to be honest. If people are willing to fight for our lives and freedom, the least we can do is help them have a home after they leave the Army 😑 this shouldn’t be a problem. I’m glad the people that made these small houses possible saw the issue as well. Thank you ❤️ You make the world a little bit better.

I feel sad for the fact that society is living free and comfortable while there are people who sacrifice themselves for their country that in the end society moves on without their soldiers and the veterans get all kinds of shit treatment from society, almost as an outcast. There should be a movie or TV series about this topic, for people to understand the kind of hell veterans really go through. #Veteransdeservesmore

I love this type of projects so much. No one should be homeless EVER and specially not hardworking people that passed through some hardships like this lady. I can't believe the US is a country where getting sick can leave you on the streets. I hope more projects like this continue to pop up around the world and in some countries it helps change the housing problems.

Its the man that risked his own money, sacrificed his life for many years to build the brand. The same man that carries the stress of every employee working under neath him to ensure they are safe and able to go home at end of each shift. The same man that is liable for any violations that effect anyone below him. The same man that no doubt hires veterans because they know they are reliable and consistent. The same man that hires the employees who are then able to feed there families. You do realise these owners that have a billion doller company, dont physically have a billion dollars in the bank. Its all down to who is willing to pay that for the company. Also if the owner decided to mass sell stock, customers become weary of why they are trying to offload, and don't continue there business there because they see it as a volatile situation. Thus crashing the stock of the company, who then have to lay off half the staff to keep the company afloat.

@@divinemissw Even so, I think there's some landscaping options you could have without sacrificing too much room. That said, I work in the Southwest, so I'm less familiar with what you might have in that environment. Some smaller trees and shrubs might be a good investment. A good landscape helps to put people's minds at ease.
