My daughter and her boyfriend have 4 cats and they are LITERALLY their children. They both don’t want human kids so their 4 ARE their babies. Their one just got really sick and so far they have spent around $3,000 on her and she just had a biopsy and my daughter will not leave the house because she doesn’t want to leave her baby alone. It really is so sweet how much they love their fur babies ☺️

And this is why you buy from reputable breeders or actually rescue a dog from the pound. Impulse buys from puppy mills only further that corrupt enterprise.

AKC registered breeders are good when they offer health guarantees. I don't believe in buying dogs, but there are good breeders out there. You just have to do your research.
@krisniznik3953
@krisniznik3953 Жыл бұрын
@@JulianaBlewett There are so many stray dogs, dogs in shelters, and dogs abandoned by breeders because they're not useful for some reason or other that there's really no excuse for buying a dog. It just encourages breeders to add to the world's overpopulation problems. The AKC has some ethical issues such as considering it a fault when certain breeds are allowed to keep their tails and ears in their natural state. Also, listening to them about breeders is iffy since they opposed legislation to ban the sale of dogs from puppy mills in pet stores. I'm glad you don't believe in buying dogs, but please recommend that people look in rescue for purebred dogs. It might take a bit longer, but they're out there. Even puppies, and the older ones that are discarded desperately need homes too.
@Starry_Night_Sky7455

@@JulianaBlewettAKC is absolutely no stamp of approval. It's merely a registry. There's plenty of debate and controversy within this organization. They engage in unethical practices. Unfortunately it is a powerful and useful registry as well as organization that offers canine enthusiasts access to events, shows, titling tests, on and on. It serves its purpose in this regard but they're no noble organization at all. Tell this to the naive please!!!!!!! Health tests vary among breed. People must know what genetic tests are looking for to eliminate known inherited disorders. Inherited joint problems, omg! Just please emphasize the importance of a good or better OFA evaluation on hips, at the least among several large breeds that are rather popular. If someone fancies an established breed, go through breed clubs and inquire about other people's dogs through that source. Breed clubs can potentially get someone in touch with decent breeders. Anyone that cares about particular breeds wants these dogs in decent homes for life! Also a surprising number of people have their preferred established breeds and do ample amounts of rescue. I know too many that have both dogs of specific recognized breeds and well loved mystery mutts in the same home. Well former mystery mutts 😂. These Embark DNA tests reveal all sorts of information! That's kinda like the ultimate pedigree chart in a way. It doesn't tell you the exact names of ancestors but it tells you enough! Heck you can do all kinds of genetic health tests on any rescue. If you want to do an OFA evaluation on joints, or say, a cardiac evaluation, it can be done. As well, mystery dogs can be trained. See what their potential is Train for tested titles. Truth be told, all pedigreed pooches trace back to mutts. ❤ Dang! Go adopt!!!! Its so rewarding and much fun! The serendipity of it all!

@@krisniznik3953the problem with that, is that there won’t be any history about the parents health or even temperament. This is important for people who are buying a dog for a particular task, like a seeing-eye dog or service dog in general because you don’t want to train a puppy for many months and then they develop a genetic health problem, that could have been avoided if the owner knew if the parents had any health problems (this isn’t 100% going to solve the problem because genetic health problems can randomly appear with zero warning, due to a mutation in the DNA as the puppy was developing). Also people do still use dogs to perform the task they were designed for, like blood hounds being used as search and rescue dogs and people still use dogs to go hunting. Those people most likely want to get a dog that’s 100% of that breed they need, to perform that task and need to know if the dog will have the right temperament to perform the task. (Dog’s temperament isn’t 100% defined by their parents, but it’s a good starting point, especially if it’s still a puppy) So, I’m for getting a dog from a reputable breeder, that will test the parents for any genetic defects, if you need that dog to perform a certain task. But if you need the dog to just be a pet, then I’ll 100% say go to a shelter or rescue center, instead of buying the dog. As for the AKC, it’s a terrible group because there a dog breeds that have major health problems, like the pugs. These dogs were designed to look a certain way. And the AKC is too stubborn to fix these breeds standards. But I’ve heard of breeders who is actually trying to fix these breed standards, to make those dog breeds healthier.

The fact this person has loads of dogs but didn't realise there was no way on earth that puppy was nine weeks old speaks volumes. I sometimes really think we need to be teaching responsible pet ownership in schools, or something.

Responsible pet ownership and volunteering with animals in need absolutely should be taught in all schools. Teach them young about how important it is to be a knowledgeable pet owner and also how valuable and necessary it is to volunteer, foster, adopt and donate. There are some guest speakers and programs that can come into schools like "Belly Rubbins For Bubbins" which is a series of books about an awesome senior rescue dog.

you can change food on your dog, you just have to make sure they drink, and that you have something to make the dogs tummy more happy. We got our dog at 12 weeks, and we had to change food because the store didnt have any of the dry food he got. He got some problems with the tummy, then we gave him some rice and chicken for a two days, and then some dry food for his weak tummy, and now he is back on the dry food again.
