I am so glad they were able to save her I really hope that they can get the rhino population flourishing it will be such a devastation if they were to go extinct it’s really sad how many animals we’ve lost because people don’t generally cherish them for the majestic and amazing animals that they are!!!!

If there is a shortage of food or water for the mother the calf may be abandoned. Of course there is the other possibility - poachers attacked and killed the mom and the baby then wandered off.

The mother did Swazi a favor: she saved her from having an even more traumatic childhood if the mother was to of been poached.

@@mmy5992 I was thinking that, too but I hope that is not the case. I am not a violent person usually but it makes me happy that most countries have shoot to kill orders for poachers of elephants, rhinos, etc. We must protect these beautiful creatures.

I loved this story, and yes, Swazi being a black rhino was especially awesome. They're even more rare than white rhinos. Well done and a very heartwarming story. Friends don't care about outward appearances, it's about what's inside the heart. A story that's much needed in a troubled world. 💞

This made me sad and happy because Swazie and Bokkie got to flourish because they enjoyed each other’s company at a nurturing age when they needed love the most. But in the end they had to part so that they could continue on their own journeys in their own habitats. Very happy Swazie found a partner! Very sweet to see them together. I wonder what happened to Bokkie? Please update us on how they are doing now. Thank you to everyone for looking after all the animals in the Sanctuary. Your hard work, dedication and love that makes all the difference to the animals that you look after when they are at their most vulnerable. Much love! ❤️🦏♥️🐐❤️

It´s good that they found each other, Rhinos are very sensible as calfes requiring constant care or else they feel neglected and stop eating alltogether. Thankfully Bucky managed to cheer her up

Oh, what a beautiful, darling friendship between the young rhino and the goat! I hope they both have happy lives. They came into one another's lives when they both needed family. I needed a heart smile tonight. This Great story of a rescued baby Rhinoceros finding a friend she needed in her life was that smile. Nature is awesome. The two species just wanted companionship which they both found. The Rhino nor the goat cared that they were different species, besties are besties. We humans should learn from animals, not to judge someone because there is a difference. Thank you for the story. May the two friends live long happy lives, that may eventually included a reunion. ❤🙂🦏🐐❤✌

They have pretty poor eyesight and rely on their sense of smell. They're known to be pretty chilled out and sometimes playful with their caregivers in sanctuaries and captivity as they're not worried about predators, whereas in the wild they'll attack anything they think might be a predator.

😍 So happy that these two could be so excepting of one another despite their obvious differences and form such an incredibly tight bond. If only we humans could be more like Bokkie and Swazi in our acceptance of one another. I've only just discovered the Rhino's hop and run style of movement. 😄 It is a delight to see!

So glad she got rescued. I really hope the South African government, anc, will not go ahead with their plans to hand out licences for rhino hunting. We need to protect the rhinos, not hunt them.
