I teach tiny house design at a small college in the northeast. I'll use this video to the students to inspire them. Not everyone wants to live in a mini house like this but for the short term after graduation, while they figure out their future, this is a great choice. We'll be building a 8 x12 prototype this fall to demonstrate how easily and inexpensively this can be done. Thanks for the great ideas and best to both of you. You're off to a great start!

And, being a mobile structure after college the house can be moved to the first job out of college location, therefore saving even more $$$ those first years. Such an affordable start instead of being in housing and school debt for years like most of us found ourselves.

You did a beautiful job! It’s such a great experience to live in a tiny space… You’re so smart to do this now. I lived with my ex-husband in a 27 foot travel trailer for four years while we were building a home on our property. It was a fabulous experience living tiny. Now 30 years later I would like to go back to living much smaller and more minimalist. best of luck to you both!

I think it would be better to not put a down payment on a house, and just buy a piece of property then build a home. To invest in a house it would be better to have all of the money in savings before buying a house, or to do what I previously said. There is more flexibility with building homes than buying homes, so he could match his budget better while building a home. Builders can calculate the cost as they build, and match their budget while building and this is something I noticed some people do, but not, for home buyers, and there is a difference! There are other options, for getting a home that he could eventually afford instead of investing in something that he cannot, and he does not not have to build anything. I have been looking into this myself. I found some homes that interest me, but I think it needs maintenance, and it does not have a ridiculous price tag attached to it.

Really nice! Though we all know that it is still kinda bs that they gotta do it with such a small space. My grand father bought a full house, a car, and raised 8 kids on a single income. That's a real living standard for new couples.

When he mentioned the windows in the loft saying that they were plexiglass do they open. Lofts are supposed to have egress windows otherwise it doesn't meet code.

Why are we never shown a bed frame? I would like to see how mold is not an issue. The younge lady was explining about it but the camera person did not shoot/show how it was done.

If you are asking about the mattress molding, there is a special pad you can get that allows air to circulate and keep it from getting moldy. I have seen other tiny house people talk about them.

They are young..... good for them to be able to safe. One thing that it is important, some people pro tiny homes are complaining they are getting a lot of restriccions which make building tiny home more complicated and expensive. Which could be at some point a way to de/encourage having tiny homes in every corner, however there are a lot of safety concerns in this house. And you have other houses just a few steps away. You can end up having a big tragedy with lives and property lost. Really the building of a house to be lived by humans, should be by code.

Where is the location and what about building codes? Was it permitted and fulfilled "ALL" required inspections? In many areas, structures like this is not allowed, especially in the tyrannical, dictatorial community like HOA.

🤮I feel like it is a grave, and I also hate narrow places. Also, all the clothes are not hung, just tightly squeezed and compressed. Also, the place is long and not wide, as if it is a grave. I cannot live in it. It is scary. I might rent a place that is nicer, cleaner, tidier, and safer than a narrow, remote, unsafe, and uncomfortable place where you are confined in a narrow box. ⚰

I would have a custom made storage unit in the loft, that was the height of the roof because the lack of clothing Storage is the only issue I see here however, this is way too small for me.
