Thank you Thank you I’ve tried a few different ways to line up the bags with fender. That line in between was tough to get looking similar. I tried wrapping electrical tape towards the back where you put the 2 pieces you cut. Went threw a lot of tape but it seemed to work & keep them from rubbing!! I’m going you way tomorrow!! Thank you for all the pointers and extra time you put into KZfaq. I personally appreciate it. I just flushed my clutch & brake fluids today thanks to you!!! Saved me $285!! For 3 hours of work and a $8 DOT 4 fluid.. Thank you Steve!!!!!! Take care!! Ride safe!!

Steve. Just getting back to let you know. I took all your tips and advice. Installation was a breeze. Even with 4 1/2 pipes. All it took was the extra spacing on the inner rail and a quick twist of the pipes and it perfect. Looks great! I’ll be posting on the Advanblack Facebook page later this evening. I really can’t thank you enough. I can only imagine what headaches I would have had without these tips. Thank you from Baltimore.

OMG your idea worked perfect with cutting the rubber piece and taping it . the dealer would not do it so I removed the bag and did what you said and it pulled the bag and gave it move clearance on the right side, now they look perfect. Thanks

Hey Steven. I just got my extended bags and fender extension. I couldn’t be more pleased. I ordered the skid plates because I have a tendency to drag my floorboards so I figured it would be a good investment. As you said, they included the screw in saddlebag fasteners and a bonus I wasn’t expecting. They added extra rubber for the mounts to push the bags out a bit to hopefully eliminate pipe contact. They’re listening to your ideals my friend! Another happy customer here...oh! They also included the wire traps for the extended fender. Wow!

Steven Housden I’ve got the lower fairing minus the speaker pods. (Shopping for speakers) and the razor tour pack on. Once completed, I’ll post it and tag you...so far, it’s already a different sled...I’m really glad I discovered Advanblack. Quality is excellent.

Hi Steve, just found your channel and man it’s great tips for people. Just thought would give a tip out to help get bags lined up, you can use a die grinder to open up the holes whichever way you need to move your bags to line up with fender extension. Keep up the great videos coming. Last three evenings have watched them all

My bags are a inch or so to high for the cut outs on fender and bags to line up perfect.. any ways if lowering the bags a bit?? You can see the ones in the video are also

grommets don't seem to be my problem. modified and looked great but when I actually attached bags to frame, the bags were "pulled" up and still about a 1/4" high. I think it is the rear bracket alignment with bags. considering options to re-drill holes in bag or modify bracket.

Steven, I was getting some scraping as my bags were too close and I made the adjustment you showed here with the rear bumper on the side. That opened it up to a nice little gap all around. Thank you. You had mentioned their was enough room to put your plasma rods back in now and I thought the same. Picked up a set, but there doesn't seem to be enough side wall on the extended fender to mount the plasma rods safely. Did you try and go with your plasma rods again after you got the gap right? If anything that would be a good way to cover the scrapes on my bags from not having the gap. Curious what you did?

I did put my plasma rods back in and its tight but they fit. The only issue I had was its so tight that it eventually started rubbing the paint on the saddlebag. that little felt stuff doesnt protect very well on the side of the light. I purchased some clear protective film, cut it to length and added it on the bags to stop it from rubbing more. The plasma rods will stick to the sides of the extension...it doesnt take much. Use the Primer that was sent with the plasma rods, hit it and then apply the lights. We just installed a set yesterday on a 18 SG. Just make the light flush with the outer part of the extension...trust me, that stuffs sticky..it isnt going anywhere. When I transferred mine I thought I was going to pull the paint off with the light ..I ended up using a little heat from a heat gun to loosen it up a bit.

Ok, been a few months now. Have the bags adjusted and plasma rods installed. You were right those plasma rods are sticky and are going no where even with the reduced surface material. Could not be happier and love the look, thanks for the tips. Helped me out a lot.

Hey terry... to be honest...they rub no matter what. I purchased a roll of clear 3m vinyl from amazon... cut to length and stuck it right where the rod touches the bag. Mine have felt on them but over time it will rub the clear down. This tape protects it a little better. It hasnt rubbed through yet.

No I sure dont...are you wanting to install newer bags on your 04? The fender extension for the 09 up will not fit but advan sells one for your year...its just a longer extension.

Steve you mentioned the bikes with Boneshakers has some issues. I was going to buy these slip ons, but now I am a bit undecided because I also plan to buy the Advanblack bags. What is your recommendation?

Hey buddy...any 4.5 inch exhaust is going to be close but it is doable. I brought up the bone shakers in this video because as of right now I think they are the only ones that sell them as 4" but the widest part of the megaphone style pipe is 4.5" I just wanted people to be aware of what they actually have. Doing the rubber mod I suggest in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bt2AgMSdnZbLfaM.html will give you a much cleaner look and the much needed 1/4" clearance around the pipes if you run 4.5" ...I have 2 bikes in my garage right now with bone shakers and advan bags on them ...you're fine getting that exhaust or any other 4.5 as long as you run the rubber mod to push the bag out slightly.

I have a 2017 RGS and won't be doing headers for a while, do you feel the Boneshakers are the best out there to create sound without headers or do you have any other slip on recommendations that are comparable?

the two bikes out there now are running stock headers and sound very nice. Deep and throaty at a steady rpm and loud when they hammer on them. Your stock headers will be fine with those boneshakers.

Michael Cox... I have Boneshakers on my 2016 Streetglide I just installed Advanblack bags as long as you use the gromets and some extra strips of gorilla tape on the outer edge puts them out far enough about 1/2 in between bag and pipe

When you place the rubber shim on the outside of the bag rail to drop the bag down and out does it create a line up problem with the rear pin or thumb screw location that mounts the bag ?

if you use the screw in type knobs we send with the bags you about a half inch play and the thickness of the rubber is less than so there is no issue. You just have to spend time getting right for your bike.

@@sikbaggers Thanks for your reply Steven. I"m glad i purchased the Advanblack bags already pin striped instead of the other cheaper ones out there. I recieved rubber shims with mine and it looks like it will work with my 4.5 Hi-Output mufflers !

@@bigdog3495 yeah the 4.5s will need shimmed a little. Make sure they are centered up in the hole and then shim if you need to. We redesigned the bags with a little bit bigger hole so it shouldnt much if any

I have a 2017 ultra if I put the extended bag on it will I scrape the ground. I want to ride in the mountains and not scrape.?

Hey Jimmy...If you do not already scrape your boards you wont scrape your bags. It all depends on what kind of rider you are...they are longer so if you are a big leaner than you take that chance...you have to adjust your riding..bring down your speeds in corners so you dont have to lean as far over. Its always a good idea to get some skid plates from advan too just in case. I would rather scratch metal than scratch paint.

The issue with getting under the metal bar is easily addressed by loosening the bottom bolt that holds the bar in place. If you elevate the back of the bike its easily accessible. Once the bolt is loosened the extension easily slide in and the top "hole bolt holes" easily slide on. Once those are on just hold the bottom of the extension in place and retighten the bolt on the metal bracket. Makes the install a breeze and no chance of bending/damaging the extension

Hey Paul...You are right , Sir. Loosening the bolt is easy to do...If only I could get guys to get under there and turn a wrench lol...A lot of guys just want this stuff to fall on there. I have RC Components 4.5 slip ons. It “looks” like there’s plenty of room between the bags and extended fender in this video. The pipes in the video are 4”, correct? I just really like my pipes the way they are without getting new ones.

yes mine are 4 inch pipes and we have done several sets of bags on 4.5's and they are fine. You just need to make sure you push the bag out a little with the rubber grommet on the side to give yourself a little more room for the pipe. Some adjusting on the pipe may be needed as well to center it up in the hole by loosening the slip on and turning it a little bit. Just make sure you get about 1/4 inch around the pipe ...the vibration is what you need to worry about. Sitting still it may look good but roll the throttle and see if they vibrate enough to touch the bags or extension.

Mine are 4.5” manga flow and they don’t fit worth a damn! They rub I’ve relocated all the exhaust as much as possible trued all these tips and they still hit.

Hey Bill Have you shimmed out the bags some? you need to shim the bag out a little and you will be fine...I have installed these on a ton of bikes running 4.5's and everyone of them I had to shim out a little. Your bags and your exhaust vibrate ..you need at least a 1/4 inch gap all the way around if not more.

The advanblack hardware pack will come with a pre cut, thicker cushion...please see this image of it stuck to the bag rail/ this will push the bag out slightly while still maintaining the thickness it needs between the rail and cushion. @@defiance669 no you will remove the back one completely from the bike and only use the shim. If you have the thicker one we provide just use one. If its the same thickness as your stock one you will need to cut the center out and stick them together on the side. The thickness will still be the same and the bag will ride the same. Do it on both sides and check it out.

I ordered lower fairings never got a tracking number ordered directly from Advan black in the middle of doing a bank dispute to get my money back call the number on the website one of the numbers is this guy in the video he works for them as tech Support
