Tips for Buying your First Climbing Shoes | Bouldering for Beginners | Black Girls Boulder

If you're tired of wearing the rental shoes at your gym and think you're ready to buy, check out some of my tips to keep in mind when getting your first pair of bouldering shoes.
My first pair were the Scarpa Force V's and I have not clue how I got the hole in the top of them. New climbers..you will do the craziest things to your first pair of shoes.

Yesssss sis. What gym did you join? It’s rough in the beginning so give it at least 3 months of climbing. Don’t cancel!!!!

Hey! I loved this very much! Very informative. I’m stoked to get going, I’ve dabbled over the years and just In the last few days realized I’m destined to do this in my life! lol 😂 I’m wondering what your thoughts are on outdoor climbing shoes? I’m sure I’ll be doing both but I’m really into being outdoors 🤗

Hey! Glad you enjoyed it and even more happy you found your destiny ;) Technically, there aren't really a such thing as "outdoor" climbing shoes. I just prefer to not use the same shoes that I use inside, outside. If you're bouldering outside and you're just starting out, a nice affordable aggressive shoe is good. Outdoor shoes can get really wrecked. Once you are feeling more comfortable on outdoor rock, you can maybe go moderate on the shoe type. I will say, my So Ill shoes that I use outside are considered aggressive but they never really felt that bad.

Ha! They're a really good neutral shoe. Wish mine didn't have a hole in it.

LOL, I was relieved that black diamond momentum was more comfortable than the scarpa for me; i was actually a bit upset b/c the scarpa force v is cuter lol

actually I found out that the scarpa v was more comfortable, and cheaper than the black diamond momentum from EMS, they have a sale!

@@FuzzyJCats I've never owned any BD shoes but it really does depend on the person. I have friends who love La Sportiva and I can't wear those cause my feet are wayyy too narrow for their wide box.

@@blackgirlsboulder totally agree, all these companies make great shoes, and it really depends on your foot. I'm relieved to have watched this video because I almost returned the scarpa shoes b/c they were still uncomfortable, not knowing that climbing shoes ARE uncomfortable lol. Keep up the great work, I love your sense of humor and insight!
