I’m 5’2 and plan on joining the police force and I definitely feel like I’ve gotten some looks when sharing with people my plans. I feel like people don’t take me seriously because I’m short and come across as very girly.

I felt the same and still do. I’m barely 5ft tall and 126 pounds. I took a job in the jail and that was when I realized that we set our limits. Not society. People can doubt you but YOU are the one who knows what you can or can’t handle. The jail ended up showing me that I am capable of more than what others expect. However I’ve considered police and have the same worries that the streets won’t take me seriously being a short female lol. I just feel like you won’t know until you’re in that position. Just don’t let others put doubt into your mind because they couldn’t do something. You’re not them and you’re not just some 5’2 girly female. 🤙🏽 best of luck!

If I ever meet a 160cm cop who is also a woman, I know that I can do whatever I want because no 160cm woman can hold a grown 200cm man back.:P Don't be one of the idiots who think "you can do the same job as men", you can't. If you want to try this all out then call me, I'm just a regular guy and you can do all the training you want, you will still never be able to get me to the ground. I would never think that "I can do the same job as women", for instance women are much better at tedious small work, you're much more systematic at that, I know I can't do the same because I am not a woman, but in 2022 every woman all of a sudden thinks they are as capable as men in terms of strength. It's ludicrous.

I graduated police academy in 1984. In my entire class there were just 2 females including myself. You ladies think it's hard now? Hahhahahhahahhahahhahhahahhahahahhahhahahahha!! We had male officers literally threaten us and tried so hard to not respond to dangerous calls with us. Sexual harassment was RAMPANT. Being raped by a "fellow officer" was not unheard of. It was really hard for us women. I was 19. I knew I had to prove myself to get even a slither of respect. One day there was a code 3 call that went out as an officer in distress. I was closest so, of course I got there first. I saw a man on top of the male officer pounding him with a rock in his head and shoulders. I didn't even radio arrived on scene. I jumped out and latched on to the guy and planted my entire weight on his back while pulling his neck backwards with my PR-24. I could see he dropped the rock and his hands were reaching towards me. Just as we fell off the male officer and on to the concrete three other cars arrived on scene. That guy was wrestling with me trying to get away but I held on like my life depended on it. They rushed over and got him handcuffed. Beaten officer was ok after he got over his concussion. 3 days later they started calling me Tiger. I never had another issue again. They miraculously didn't mind if I showed up first to back them up anymore and no longer hesitated to back me up. Hard earned but worth it. 36 years later (last year), I retired. I was the last of all of them to do so. The officer that gave me the absolute hardest time is my husband of 23 years.

Stefanie, thank you for the video🙏🏻 I joined the army reserves as a 31B (military police) and am leaving in two weeks🤯 When I get back, I’m going to pursue being an officer. I had started applying around, but then a spot in the reserves came up so I’m headed that direction for now✌🏻

If you couldn't pass the physical requirements in the army then don't become a police officer. I don't mean the lowered requirements, I mean the same requirements that men have to pass, if you can't pass those then expect never to be taken seriously in public.

Great video. Where I worked they passed on almost all the reports to me and would mock and put me down. I don't suggest arguing because you won't win if you're new. Just be a bigger person, apply elsewhere secretly and then turn in your badge with your chin up high and let that door slam with the wind. Men don't care about women who stick up for themselves, if thats the place you work at then leave.

I am in the military and just started college earning my degree in CJ! I heard that being in law enforcement does a lot of similar things the military does, so hopefully a smoother transition 🤞🏽 but have u ever considered being a detective? Do you have to be a cop for a certain amount of years?

my concern is- what if they disqualify me for having a background of depression? or that i partied a little as a teen? do i need to be perfect to get hired? i know i need a clean background and all that so that isnt my concern

I was a police explorer at ahe 15 and i was sexually harrassed so bad! Some of them sworn officers and some in the program with me. One of them became state patrol.and was on leave a few years ago for sex with multiple underage women....scary....his had connections in the WSP

I strongly encourage any women watching this video to pay no mind to some of the ignorant mouth-breathers in this comment section. Don’t let people discourage you from joining the force, because number one, being a police officer entails so much more than just being physically strong (whether some of the people in this comment section care to admit it or not.) and number two, people will shit talk you but when danger comes they’re the ones running from the danger and you’re the ones running towards it. If people cannot give you the respect you deserve for that than clearly somethings not working in ye old noggin. Physical strength of course is required for this type of position, and while it’s true that men are built more muscular than us, that doesn’t mean that we’re totally weak and if you can push yourself hard and pass all the requirements than go for it. Seriously don’t listen to some of these people, most of them are miserable trolls anyway.

Tip 1: If you can't make the regular requirements in terms of physical strength, don't become a cop. No, I don't mean the lowered requirements, I mean the normal requirements that men have to go pass.
