It's funny sometimes how things just come together in life. All year I've been thinking about getting back into tapestry weaving, but that's as far as it got. Then about four weeks ago I pulled a couple of looms out from the back of a cupboard. I had to laugh, bacause one of the looms was warped up. Only the heavens know now what I was intending. The only thing I do know is that those warp threads were once white!!! At the moment I am waiiting for a new loom as I want something bigger. In the meantime I've been watching weavers on youtube - still the same old faces and then I stumbled across one of your vlogs. I have to say you are a breath of fresh air. I love both your work and thoughts on weaving. Keep ranting, because here's one woman you've got buzzing again. THANK YOU.

Thank you for your comments as I have been worrying about my technique; which has stifled my moving on. The ideas come easily, and the challenge of creating an image with fibres is very exciting for me. But than I think, “am I doing this correct”. Listening to you, well I’m just going to carry on. 😅

Plotter vs pantser! From my experience as a writer, it's a very similar conundrum. Some of us just start typing into the wind (by the seat of our pants, hence "pantser"), having faith that what we end up with is workable. Some folks can't open a fresh document until they have all the details all plotted and worked out. Most of us are somewhere in between and each project is different.

I love this! I am a person who is finding herself through her creative impulses so it is great to feel I don't have to have perfect technique before giving myself permission to start my own work.

Thank you, Michelle, this has been very helpful. I’m a novice at weaving, having been doing it for around 18 months. I’m happy to do scarves, usually for charity. This year, my local weaving group is doing a bird each month. My first one (a penguin) was dreadful but I’m getting more proficient, and I’ve managed a gold crest (very colourful but millions of ends to weave in afterwards 🙃). I’m definitely at the technique learning stage and happy to copy pictures. I’m certainly not an artist, yet… Keep going with the rambles, they’re fun xx

Like you I am always buzzing full of ideas. It can get tiring at times. I learned I enjoy a variety of projects. Sometimes I enjoy not having to think and just follow a brief, a pattern or something. The making is more important with those. I let go. Some other times I have an urge to break free and express myself in my own way. I also like to learn progressively. It reduces the stress level and I can understand my mistakes. Oh and whenever I get the chance I love getting inspired by other fields and try new things! Yesterday I did a pottery workshop and I was so excited. Many hugs, Adrien!

Oooo, that sounds like an exciting way to work! Do you keep all your ideas in a notebook, or are they in your head?

@@ThreefoldDesigns usually some notebooks for the long run. I can’t rely on technology (I lost my data too many times over the years) so I keep a notebook say for new yarn companies, patterns I want to make in the future but it’s a bit chaotic there too. I love having cute notebooks around. I always have one in my bag wherever I go. In my head I have plenty of ideas. I’d love to work on lyrics next. Blur and Metric new albums sparked something in me! Oh and when I’m at my wheel a flow of synopses and miscellaneous possibilities arise and I cherish those moments

Beautiful video! Just the info I needed to hear. I’m full of ideas but not always sure how to approach them and execute them. I feel like I’m always waiting for the tapestry police. 😂 You have given me the courage to just play and figure it out in my time. Thank you Michelle! ❤
