By request, here is how we live comfortably in British Columbia, Canada during the winter in a fifth wheel RV. Tips for staying warm that you may never have thought about; how much propane you may need; how to get the snow off your RV easily; how to skirt your RV to keep the cold out, plus a snowball in the face and other fun times to warm the heart!

Thank you for the tips. We are finishing up a permanent RV home project for a blind man here in Ontario. Should be interesting to see how he makes out. Will eventually have a mini series. Cute outtakes.

@@IoIo-qu2vk there are some small washer/drier combo’s that fit into rv’s. I think an old fashioned small tub washer for outside would be nice. I need one too! Best of luck on your rv adventures 😊

Hello! You commented on one of our videos, and I was curious what additional things you do to stay warm in winter. Our daughter and family live in BC! All that snow and cold has only happened in recent years. Crazy! We aren't in a place that would allow the front to be boxed in like that, but I love it!! And especially making it into a greenhouse in the warmer months! Awesome!! You must live there year round? Curious why you chose to stay in a colder climate in the winter. We have had the cold chase us several times from the North to South where we go for winters, but really like being where it's warmer instead of cold, snow and ice! Wisconsin gets all that plus the below 0 (F) and winds!! The snow IS pretty...but you can keep it. Haha!! God's blessings to you and your daughter. 💕

So kind of you to visit my channel! Thank you very much! We live where we do simply because it is where the majority of our family is, and unfortunately, Canada doesn't really have many warm places to escape to. Vancouver is normally warmer on the coast, but as you mentioned, in the past few years the weather has gotten colder and snowier even on the coast. When we sold our home, there simply was no housing available, including rentals, and I wanted a simpler life. Other ways we stay warm include wearing layers of clothing during cold spells, lots of propane usage for the furnace, and trying to keep the humidity down with air movement and damp traps. I do hope to get a small Grizzly woodstove installed before next winter which will help keep propane costs down and reduce humidity. It's so nice to meet you! I have moved into a different rv since this video and did a total renovation on it. I will post a video showing the before and after in the coming weeks. Hope you are toasty warm! It has thankfully warmed here in the interior of BC. All the best to you! :)

@DebbieNobodyneedstoknow1 we also keep 2 small floor fans running to circulate the heat and have a non-electric dehumidifier. The part of TX that we're in this winter is unusually dry! Son't know if that's becsuse they had a drought summer or if it's typically more arid. Last year, we were in humid Houston. A mini wood stove would be awesome! Every time I mention the idea to Gary he gives me this look and funny smile. Lol Perhaps if we lived in it in one location and didn't travel he MIGHT be more on board?? I will subscribe to see more of your videos, and you may want to check out our most recent one on fire safety in an rv that I just posted last night. Be safe! God bless! 💕

@@RoadsofFaith I just paused your video on fire prevention to reply to your comment. The video is very informative with such great points! After seeing that rv burned, I don’t blame your husband for being cautious sour a woodstove idea. I am stationary, but still will be so cautious and maintain it carefully if I get one. It is raining here at the moment. January is typically much colder, but I welcome the possibility of an early spring. God bless you both! I’m going to watch the rest of your video and do some fire checks on the rv tomorrow! 👍🙏

How did you tack your skirting? Live in AB and winter camp a bit, thinking skirting for next winter.
@DebbieNobodyneedstoknow1
@DebbieNobodyneedstoknow1 Жыл бұрын
The reflection insulation skirting is wrapped and stapled over a wood 2x4 frame. Rebar held it in the ground to further stabilize it. In my present rv I did no rebar. I did it in sections then taped the seams, making it easy to remove. I can access underneath easily. They have stayed in place solely because of measuring each individual section and making it snug. I can’t imagine AB weather with no skirting. It makes such a difference in the inside temperature. The reflective cuts out the wind well too. Best wishes from BC! I hope that helps! Perhaps I will do a video or shorts video on it . Thanks for watching!
