I'm glad she asked if you can dump it in the bathtub with mist water, soaking vintage plastic and you were able to say no to that, I have messed up plastic toys before, still don't know how to clean them without injuring them as in the case of shiny vintage RC cars

Yeah, never submerge it if you can help it.

Soft make up brushes also can be great around delicate parts

David is waaaay intense and LPH is like, “Yeah, whatever! Just dunk that thing in the bathtub and hit it with a hairdryer!” You guys are the perfect balance of sugar and spice! And that’s why I like watching your episodes.

I bought a junk Terrordrome hull, washed the parts in the bathtub and scrubbed with a toothbrush, removed all the old stickers and spray painted the upper portion a similar white because it was so yellowed. I then bought a repro sticker sheet from ToyHax and re-stickered the entire thing. It's not the original, which is kind of a bummer, but it looks immaculate now. I store it in trash bags when not in use. That was an expensive project!

The best tip is the makeup brushes. I'm so glad I decided to try those out, nothing has worked as good. I had to stand back and just look at how nice & clean they looked for a minute the first time I used one on them.

Dusting with a stiff brush (small brush normally used for painting models), Goo-Gone, Windex, soft cloths, and paper towels. These are great for dust, dirt, and grease (the kind of things that come from cooking in the house). Also, excellent for removing price labels, Goo-Gone applied to the label helps break down the adhesive. Any crayon or grease pencil can also be removed from comic book covers, but only use in small amounts on a soft cloth.

I had one but not complete it's was missing all the bottom doors and middle dome where the aircraft came out of. But when I moved to a new place somehow it didn't come with me. I had this playset and the big space shuttle playset. Wish I still had them. I think I still have random pieces of the terror dome when I find them I'll send them your way David

@@OpenByChance it certainly was and I even made a video cleaning up a Dreadnok Thunder Machine I recently bought that was filthy, as well as has paint splatter damage....I was going to give your channel a shoutout for giving me the idea, but since I'm an Illinois medical cannabis patient and critic as well I didn't want to without your permission.....check my vid out if you want and tell me how I did cleanup wise....love your channel, and happy I stumbled upon it.

I find the best thing is warm mild soapy water and a very soft toothbrush for any parts without stickers or electrics. Absolutely never put isopropyl alcohol on paint, I learned the hard way.
@OpenByChance

No, not on paint. But it's fine for colored plastic.

Man, I had NO IDEA how much those guys were going for these days. So, I guessed to myself,”$350-$450 complete, $700-$800 MintInBox”, went to eBay, and boy was I WAY OFF!!! Hope you got a good deal on that one, cause it may have a little dirt on it, but it’s 100% complete with ZERO repro/3D printed parts. I guess that’s something you have to look out for too now, is the replaced parts and pieces. But yeah, informative video. I’m always paranoid about having to replace stickers on pieces like that. So, thanks & ☮️

I got a surprisingly good deal, examined it closely to make sure I wasn't getting 3D printed pieces. Repro parts has gotten to be a big deal. I'm finding a lot of that on hard to replace pieces with playsets.

Just saw this video and immediately subscribed. Quick question… I have a ARAH HQ, Boulder Hill, Fort Kerium, and a Terrordrome I am in the planning process of cleaning. When you use the 70% alcohol, do you wipe the alcohol away with clean water after wiping the dirt / age away? My concern is whether or not leaving the alcohol on there does any damage over time. Thanks for all the great tips and videos.
@OpenByChance
@OpenByChance Күн бұрын
Thanks for joining us, hope you enjoy the channel! Personally I haven't experienced any issues with using the alcohol, likely because it does evaporate. Couldn't hurt to wipe it down with something neutral afterwards, (plain water) if you're not sure about certain grades of plastic.

Great video with great tips I just recently picked up a cobra condor where the white was almost black from the amount of dirt caked on there and inside the landing gear were dead bugs and some kind of nest I used some computer duster to blow all that stuff out of there and your tips for cleaning worked really well any tips though on how to get rid of smells on old toys the condor smells like moth balls and an old musty basement
@OpenByChance
@OpenByChance Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't try to cover the smell up, because that just adds residue to the plastic. Make sure it's completely dry, and wipe it down with a lemon/vinegar solution, then let it completely dry again. Watch out not to wipe over stickers...

I have to kind of laugh at the guy that upgraded cause there really is nothing wrong with this one. Maybe the dome mechanism isn't as smooth but I'm sure there are ways to fix that. Just kind of odd unless the guy wanted a boxed one.
