Twice when I was a teenager I nearly drowned in small, lazy rivers due to undertow. I was a strong swimmer, yet both times it truly felt like someone had their hands around my ankles and were pulling me down. Grace of God saved me both times. I’ve had great respect for all moving waters ever since.

Water shoes are great advice, probably the worst infection I’ve ever had resulted from cutting my foot in the water.

A definite watch, like you said, for weather patterns. I got caught in a flash flood coming down a road, not even a body of water. A farmer and his son had to recue me, thank God I lived to warn lthers it only takes seconds to hit.

Don't cross fast flash flood water. Never. Unless being chased by a bear! There is a time and place for everything! Great video!

Water. You never know what it's going to do and you should never trust it. And as a side note, someone once told me "never turn your back on the ocean."

Water socks are great and can be used as moccasins around camp or the motel room. Indeed, always respect the power of water. Even wading less than knee deep can take you down!

All good info. Many just don't think a small creek that looks lazy can turn into a raging torrent in seconds. A storm miles away or a dam or levy breaking "upcrik" can let loose a torrent of water with no warning. It's good to look up where it's coming from before trying to cross and noticing anything out of place before crossing. And yes i know you've addressed that before but some folks may be new to the channel. Hope you get to smile today!😊

MR, Great advice. Pistol cross chest is sound. I typically carry spare shoes for water crossing & end of day camp wear. A dry bag that is filled with air makes for a good 'float'. From the 👍. Best

Crocs would also work instead of water shoes and they can be a nice shoe to wear in camp after you get to wear your going! Thanks MR!!

Great video brother 👍. I have been looking at the Kenia myself as an option for a chest carry. Because it would work well with waders to open carry. I don't always hit the most popular spots so it's best to be prepared when you are alone.
