Tips On How To EQ Your Acoustic Guitar Pickup

If you have a bad sounding Acoustic Guitar Pickup then a lot of those harsh sounding frequencies can be fixed with proper EQ.
Cutting the right frequencies with an Equalizer can make your pickup sound a lot better but you have to know how to find these frequencies and which EQ to use.
In this video I go through my method of EQ and how I find those harsh frquencies we often hear from Piezo style pickups.

Using an ibanez 2 band pickup and the default sound is terrible. Really need to find out the EQ settings for it

I haven’t heard any Ibanez pickups? Yeah you can usually fix a lot of the sound with EQ.

Curious with the new mk2 out, do you think a low pass filter and HPF necc for live acoustic purposes ? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the question. The Mk2 looks very interesting. I haven't tried it out yet. The fact that they have a dial instead of a switch for the "Q" controls would make a difference and then having the low pass filters as well. Definately an upgrade from the Mk1.

Currently my acoustic pedalboard is an LR Baggs Venue and HX Stomp, I just started using the Parametric EQ in the stomp, I’d like to hear this pedal in person

Hi, thanks for the comment. Ah yeah that's great! any parametric EQ would give you lots of control. The Empress ParaEQ is great though, I think they've just released a new one as well.

Hi Andreas, thanks again! Yeah they are DIY panels. I haven't treated the room in a professional way at all but it definitely makes a difference having the panels on the walls.

Interesting EQ advice. I learned something there. OT question -- I notice in a few of your videos there is what looks like a wad of tissue under the strings on the headboard. What is that and what is its purpose?

Thanks! Glad you learnt something 😊 Yeah it's a piece of cloth. Sometimes I get some strange high frequencies coming from the part of strings that's between the nut and the tuners. So I use a cloth to dampen it.
