When my brother doesn't use his trailer, he jacks it up and puts the frame on jack stands. Then he removes both wheels and stores them in the garage. Then he chains the trailer to a large tree and then runs a chain from axle end to axle end between the lugs so you have to take off the chain in order to mount any wheels. He stores the trailer in a high crime area and no one ever bothers with it.

I have a tip for trailer theft prevention. Put a chain through the wheels and around the axle. Use 2 chains and 2 locks. If they do not notice them right away they will know real soon. I have a double axle trailer and to further the difficulty to thieves I will run a chain through both wheels and then through a brick. Caught someone trying to cut the first chains one day and scared the crap out of him when I pointed my Mossberg 500 at him while he was on the ground under my trailer.

Here in S Oregon they dont bother with the hitch. They just hook up the safety chains and go.

I have a tandem cargo trailer and I have series 10 chains and locks on both wheels on both sides, the tongue is duel locked and I have a gps tracker on mine. I won't call the police when it rolls, I will do my own recovery..... To trailer thieves: You may get it to roll but you also may have to face someone with a .45 in your face.

Remove the chains, get 2 wheel boots(one for each side) and a lockable heavy duty hitch cover should do the trick.

I put my bed on it and let them trailer me to their house and wake up during travel and when they stop and UNCOVER the trailer im POINTING my gun right at them saying - NOW BEING US BOTH BACK TO THE HOUSE YOU TOOK US FROM AND THEY WILL NEVER TRY IT AGAIN!!!!! Really? No better strategies then get a lock? Show the different types of locks. Tell them to back it up against a building or curb so the thieves tow vehicle can’t get access to it. By the way, prayer won’t work. And when you say “hopefully the Lord supplies us with another“, you mean your Church members will pay for it.
