Another tip is where the cab/steps are. Put skateboard tape below on the deck and around the steps area for extra traction for getting in and out more easily.

Good tips...One more for you, you can also put a 2x4 or some other marking toward the front of the trailer to know when you have pulled up enough to be centered on the trailer. It is like a parking curb on the trailer. It makes it very handy if your load is mostly consistent.

I have a few questions if you don't mind, I could really use some help finding a trailer to load a similar tractor. What model tractor is this? I have a Kubota M7060. Could you give me some more specifications on the trailer?

I am wondering if you haul for others? We are retired and want to haul tractors for extra change and travel. What are your thoughts? And what size is your Kabota? Thanks
@TractorTech
@TractorTech 3 жыл бұрын
No I don't haul for others. There is a guy here that will haul in the county with a rollback for $50, so it is tough to compete with that. If you haul for hire, you should have commercial insurance and maybe DOT numbers. The tractor is an L4240.

Wait a minute! The other video said to never load a tractor even slightly downhill !
@TractorTech
@TractorTech 3 жыл бұрын
Lol, that is the second time this week someone said that. I watched that video and I don't understand. The way he does it is still going to pick the truck up regardless if you load uphill, downhill, or on the level.

When you pulled up there on the trailer you said the tractor was ready to tie down now you was way too far back on the trailer for weight distribution
@kfelix2934
@kfelix2934 4 жыл бұрын
@.30 Bad tip, you never ever load a trailer downhill , with 4wd or 2wd. If the rear lifts up, you have no parking brake holding the truck, trailer, and tractor will all go tumbling down.\\\\
@TractorTech
@TractorTech 4 жыл бұрын
If the truck is in 4wd, with the parking brake drawn, it will also hold the front wheels. I also said you should put blocks under the rear of the trailer to prevent it from being picked up, and I said to chock the wheels on the trailer. Loading uphill is unsafe.
@okstate999

The rear of the truck won't lift up with blocks or jacks at the back of the trailer. Not possible.

Put the truck in 4wd with the parking brake on. Since the rear wheels are locked, and it is in 4wd, it will lock the front too.
@PopWall-vq1gd
@PopWall-vq1gd Жыл бұрын
You should never load your trailer with out blocks under your trailer you have to keep that weight from pushing up on the back of your truck which can break the locking mechanism on your hitch that's very dangerous also it takes the weight off the tires on the truck if enough weight is taken off the truck and roll forward if on a hill ... if locking mechanism on hitch gets bent when you go to unload you can lose the trailer my father taught me this back in the sixties and the the one time I didn't do it the trailer come unhooked

All common sense, but it is surprising how often we get in a hurry and miss something! Also loading a "tricycle" tractor needs a third ramp or a set of blocks so that it can lift the front end.

One question, why do you put your truck in park to load the tractor on the trailer? I was trained to put the truck in neutral so that it doesn't mess up the transmission. Just like when you park your on an incline you should put your vehicle's parking brake on before you put it in park so that it doesn't put a strain on the transmission.
@TractorTech
@TractorTech 4 жыл бұрын
I don't trust a parking brake to hold it. I press the parking brake before putting it in park, so the truck is not resting on the parking pawl.
@okstate999
@okstate999 3 жыл бұрын
That doesn't make any sense. With an automatic transmission, park and neutral are both acceptable when idling. Neutral is a a bad idea and in gear is even worse. I've seen someone put a pickup in drive going up an incline and it started flying downhill. He barely caught up to it. I don't understand what you're talking about at all......if you're on an incline, leave your foot on the brake, put it in park, engage the parking brake. Sure, if you don't leave your foot on the brake and let it roll back, a habit like that could potentially cause issues on down the road, same as a manual transmission. But putting it in park is what you're supposed to do. If you put it in neutral you are choosing to utilize 1/2 safety features. If you use park and the parking brake you are using 2/2 safety features.

It's a publicly viewable video regarding an activity that could cause serious damage or injury if one screws it up. Anyone can do it however they want, but if a video is created for the public to seek advice from it should be done in a professional manner. All safety procedures being included in the video make it a professional video. Anything less and it's not.

Dude you missed so many important points. Please do a revised video. covering the trailer make sure that the receiver hitch not just talking about it take the via the camera up there and show them the hydraulic or electronic trailer brake system, next go to your axles and show them that it's either 6 lug or eight Lug on what size tire you are running and what rating tire you are running. next make sure that the truck not only has the rating but the engine and transmission are in good shape if you're throwing up or downhill it's one thing to toe so much weight uphill it's another thing to try and stop it going downhill much more dangerous. next you don't even talk about censoring the weight on the trailer so that you don't get trailer sway where the majority of the weight is on the front tongue of the trailer or hooking up a trailer anti-sway bar. Next show them anchor points on the tractor for chains and at least ratchet straps next show them how important it is to chock the tires or have some way of securing the tractor also on bumpy roads but your video quality is good just you are missing so much important information. People really need to see it how to use a chain break or come a long ways to anchor the tractor to the trailer and that the trailer has points to do it. Other than that Your video is okay I wish that KZfaq would offer a flatline like a so-so rating. my not showing the tie-down process and not showering how important the braking system is I think you do more harm with this video than good. But thats my opion

This was a video on how to load your tractor more safely. It was not a video on what tow vehicle do I need, how do I secure my tractor to a trailer, or what trailer do I need.

wouldn't you agree that all of the safety concerns I brought up are of equal if not more important before you ever even think about loading your tractor ? Think of how many inexperienced people are going to watch your video and treat it like a complete guide.

@@rjohnson5972 Your reading comprehension is lacking. The title is "Tips to Load your Tractor on a Trailer More Safely". It was filmed for a specific purpose, not to be a ridiculously long video going over things that people already know. Most people watching this video have experience and knowledge about towing and securing a load. That's just trailer 101. This video is specifically about how to safely load a tractor, something that people with experience towing may not know much about.
