Hello, i just bought one of these plants and i have noticed that the roots are coming through the pot and one root is climbing up the pot from the bottom (i hope that makes sense). I just wondered if you think i should repot it or wait for a while and wait for spring time next year? I also wondered if it would be okay to repot in pon soil? Thank you for your help.

I saw on some of your videos that you had a cup of water on top of the moss poles. Do you water your monstera through the moss pole or do you only spray the pole and water through the soil?

Just wanted to comment on a great video here. My only thing that I keep hearing about which I think should be considered, is the idea of not fertilizing in Winter and so on. A lot of this really depends on the overall environment that you have your plant in.. I personally have mine and more of a controlled environment so I can regulate overall levels all year round.. that being the case, I can fertilize continually if I wish.

Hi Claire, just want to ask, what is likely to be the problem if the new emerging leaves are coming through yellow? Could it be root rot? My mum is looking after it for me at the moment and we are a bit worried whats going on? Thank you 😊

Love your videos! Very informative and helpful 🥺🙏🏻 Quick question though, hopefully you can help me with my issue with my baby monstera. I noticed that one of the leaves started looking translucent/brown ish. I read that it means it’s too cold for the plant (I have AC working in my room sometimes), what do you think or recommend doing? Have a lovely day! 🥰
@TheJungleHaven
@TheJungleHaven 2 жыл бұрын
Hiya! There's a few reasons it could be happening, but you're totally right - they hate cold draughts, so firstly I'd move it far away from the AC. Air con can also dry the air out quite a bit and bring the humidity levels down. Sometimes transparent leaves are caused by poor drainage, meaning that your plant could be water-logged, or the roots are suffering (definitely worth checking those roots as root rot is a killer). The only other thing that comes to mind is that the soil isn't quite right for your plant. As I mention in this video Monsteras enjoy a slightly acidic soil, and translucent leaves is often caused by a soil that is too alkaline... I hope this helps 💚 x

I just subscribed to your KZfaq channel, and love it. I have a question about the Monstera Deliciosa, aside from the nutrients given by a moss pole, will they like (climb) a trellis?
@TheJungleHaven
@TheJungleHaven 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! It depends what it's made out of - if it's just a standard wooden trellis your Monstera might struggle to attach itself to it, as the aerial roots prefer something with a bit of texture. If you were to wrap some coir or moss around the trellis this would help x

This was great! I have two baby Monstera Deliciosa and I was wondering when they’ll develop fenestrations. One is six months older than the other and I repotted it but for some reason I put a top dressing off rocks on it. I think I ended up over watering it because I didn’t realize how long the soil stayed moist with the rocks on top. I’ve taken them off but I still have yellow leaves. Should I just completely repot it?? It was growing so nicely and now it’s not putting out any new growth… Thank you for sharing! 💜💚🪴

@@sandymaher4774 I actually followed this up on Instagram last week. It tuned out to be very root bound and needed a bigger pot!
@TheJungleHaven
@TheJungleHaven 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Sharon, sorry for the late reply! You're totally right, keeping anything on the top layer of the soil will essentially 'trap' the moisture in there, meaning that any not absorbed by the roots won't evaporate like it would do without the rocks. Definitely worth checking for root rot if you suspect you might have accidentally overwatered, as well as changing the soil. I've posted about how you can treat root rot in the description box of my latest video. Hope this helps x

How do you know if your plant is root bound? Also… what do I do with my crazy aerial roots. They are a bit out of control 😂
@TheJungleHaven
@TheJungleHaven Жыл бұрын
A root bound plant has compact roots which often push out of the soil and can be seen coming out of the bottom of the pot. If you gently lift your plant out of the nursery pot and you see more root than soil, chances are it could be root bound. In regards to aerial roots, I encourage mine into a moss pole 💚

I'd trim back the browning bits on the leaves and move your plant away from the air conditioner to a room with better lighting (if possible). If your house doesn't get much light then maybe consider investing in grow lights 💚

@@janzishankar8214 Hiya! So I haven't actually made a specific video on that, but I've got a propagation highlight on my Instagram where I go through it step by step. A variegated plant is just a plant that has different sections of colour - for example in these ones, variegation often looks like patches of white, yellow and pale green alongside the standard dark green! 💚
