I had exedras too. Replaced them due to age, not wear. Put on shinko 777s and it's a big difference. The shinkos are more round making the bike more flickable and the softer sidewall makes for a comfortable ride. So far so good. I'll see how they wear

Great review. Just picked up an 07 1300 and the front tire is pretty worn. Tread wise it's probably ok for a while longer, but the guy bought the bike in 2016 and said he hadn't changed the front since he bought it, so I'm more concerned about dry rot. I always put Mich Power Commanders on my CBR600 back in the day, and the Commander II's seem to basically just be their cruiser version of that tire. But I also didn't want to drop $180 on a tire right after buying the bike, especially since I also have to get some gear again since I haven't had a bike in 7-8 years. Think I might just go Shinko front, then do the Commander II on back whenever I need it in the next year or so.
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 2 жыл бұрын
That’s not a bad combo. Been there. Shinko front should last over 10k to 12k. C2 rear about 22k. Dry rot is not good. C2 rear and metzler 888 front is a nice riding combo. Really liked that

I have a Commander II on the front of my V Star 1300, and can't wait to get rid of it. Feels about as responsive as wood and it's terrible in the rain. Gonna' replace it with a Cobra Chrome rear tire mounted backwards. Chrome has a three-zone compound, so should give okay mileage while sticking well when I'm scraping boards...

Great review on the different tire's brother,as much as I've ridden I think if a person gets 12 to 15k out of the rear tires, that's actually pretty good, and front tires I've gotten 20 to 28k and a lot of it depends on how the bike is being ridden to, especially on the rear tire, good review brother, keep up the good work brother 💯✌️😎

One other option, in 2023, for budget rubbers on a heavy cruiser/tourer, the Shinko SE890's seem to be a reliable tire for the money, and sticky when their warm.

You're over inflating your tires. The sidewall gives you a maximum, not recommended! 33-35 front and back is where you wanna be at. You're minimizing your contact patch with the road and also why your squaring off that rear.

I can't use bias-ply tires on the Victory, they completely mess up the handling. I used to run Avon Cobras and loved them, but after Avon d\c'd the Cobra for the Cobra Chrome and doubled the price I went to Shinko SE890 Journeys. I'm shocked but find these Shinkos to be a better tire. The Journeys stick just as well as the Cobras(and that's saying a lot) but hold their "roundness" much better and are FAR out-wearing the Avons.

I have the exact same model as yours. I am still on the stock Bridgestone Exedra 170/70-16. It has lasted 8500 miles. Anything less than 10k miles for a tire is a shame. I was interested in the Michelin Commander 3, but I don't think they make the size. After watching your video I don't want to try a Shinko or Bridgestone. The same thing with Dunlop doesn't seem to have good reviews. Since they don't really last 10k miles. That leaves me with Metzeler or Avon Cobra Chrome (good reviews on Revzilla.) Any experience with either Metzeler or Avon Cobra?
