I just bought this, best machine ever. I’ve had 17 knee surgeries, being able to isolate the tibia and make it stronger makes an enormous difference in pain level. Something about this exercise, I always liked it, even when I was young. It just “feels” right & perfect using it, love the burn, I’ve never been able to replicate the movement any other way without awkwardness

Just bought one from titan. If i need bigger plates ill plan on using a 4x4 that i cut to put on each side which will raise it off the ground by 4 inches so i can use most of my plates with no issue.

Appreciate this review. I’ve only tried the Hammer Strength version which I really liked but that was over ten years ago and I’m just not recalling but I don’t remember the part where your heels are dipping down. Am I wrong? I thought where your heels rest is still and you just lift and kind of swing the front part with the weights up. If it operates the same as the HS, then it’s def worth the price.

might get one for my buddy's garage gym. another option to grow this muscle area is bodyboarding if you are near some surf or get a pair of bodyboarding fins and push a kickboard around in a pool.

@@MattTolbers I was in minnesotta for a few months by flying clouds airport in eden prairie for air traffic control school. I know how being far away from the ocean feels. lol. I guess I just noticed my tibia dorsi were huge but just realized how they grew from years of panic paddling surfing big waves in hawaii specially during the winter in the north shore on oahu and kauai. having a good size tibia dorsi makes the lower half of the legs look complete.

this is a really good machine, but if you can't afford this or your gym doesn have this, do what i do: take a swiss bar/neutral grip bar and stuff your feet into one of the larger gaps, hanging the bar off your mid-front foot. sit up on something high and have your heels on a box or bench, hanging your toes over the edge, and you can get this same movement, also plate loadable

When you're doing your reps, are you pushing with your heels or pulling with your toes? If I push with my heels, I can do >70 lbs for ~15 reps. If I only pull with my toes, I can do half as much, but it seems to hit my tibia muscles harder than when I push with my heels.

Perfect review, I was very curious how this faired up against the hammer strength version. I only have commercial equipment in my gym, however, I really can't see a quality difference between the 2. Ill be ordering one of these today...thanks

Yeah just get some 10 pound plates and do it at home, not worth carrying to gym. You gotta start building your own home gym

@@MattTolbers i have a decent home gym setup started this summer, but i do not have a weight calf press or sitting calf press, so i usually do calves at gym. A few things keep me going back to the gym 🤪

Almost seems like it with the smaller foot pad but it’s for both or one at a time just like Titans. Definitely feels good to hit both sides of the calf

Does this work the back of the calfs at all or just front? I'm thinking of getting it for my husband, he's obsessed with getting bigger calves so I don't know if this will help. Thank you for any advise

My therapist recommended this machine I don’t know much about weights plates but if I have to buy clips for the ends what size should I get? I saw some there was a 1 inch and some 2 inch collars just wanna be sure before I purchase.

I just purchased one but now need plates. I plan on going hard on my tibs but can you recommend a starting weight amount for three levels? Beginner Intermediate and Advanced?

That’s a hard one, everyone so different. If you want to do a lot of reps you probably don’t need much weight, but I’d you want to do low reps you can really fill it up if just using 10’s

@@MattTolbers Just a follow up I ended up doing a 25 and 10 lb plate each side 70 lbs total with enough room to add another plate. Trying to bulk so went high weight low rep. So far so good!

Yes I was going up quiet a bit of weight each week when doing it. It’s just like any other exercise, if you stay consistent you keep improving. I’m just extremely busy and haven’t been able to be consistent with working out like I should. The machine works great though

Just the front, but that should help the overall look of your calves.

The back of your calf is limited in how much muscle it can have by how much your shin has. This thing is the only way to get truly big calfs

@Alexander, the difference is most pronounced once you get to the heavier weights. The Tib-Bar becomes awkward when you require more plates as you get stronger. That is my experience. I have a Tib-Bar.

@@waymoncowley436 this one pivots around the built in pivot point, whereas the tibbar obviously pivots purely around the ankle. Tbh, the tibbar is probably more 'purely' working the tibs, so it's flat out harder with the heavier weights (thus feels awkward) but it's giving a great tib workout. This one is really good too, but I think is just a tad easier lb for lb.

Why? All that particular muscle does, tibialis anterior, is dorsiflex the foot. Absolutely zero need for it to be super strong or anything, unless maybe you're a circus performer hanging from your toes lol. Or you've got some physical problem with your foot that need to be worked on and if so you should be seeing a physical therapist.

@@jonklein7130 what? lol. No. I have massaged lots of people. Including people that run a heck of a lot and even an Olympic athlete. One of my former clients has done more than 50 marathons. Not a single person ever said that they exercise their tibialis. It does absolutely nothing but dorsiflex your foot. Just pick your foot up off the ground. It’s not gonna make you jump higher or run faster to exercise it.

@@Dave_Outside They are professional runners. They have strong tibialis. The best evidence is if I use the machine and get no results then you are correct. But it is unfair of either of us to judge something until we use it
