We were fortunate enough to get to bring Von Smith on tour with us for our East Coast shows. Those that saw him already know about his amazing vocal range and powerful stage presence; in this video, we decided to try something different and remake Sia's "Titanium" in the style of a 1940's jazz crooner.

To push the negative comments out of the water, I absolutely love this cover. I can't get enough of it. Von is fantastic and amazing and adorable and did I say fantastic? You can't get everything perfect and authentic. You get a different person singing a style and it'll never be exact. Maybe they're used to singing a certain way so they'll bring their own thing to the performance. I don't get pretentious vibes from this, I just see a man trying to hold himself back from dancing his ass off while singing. This cover along with Von's performance brings more power to the song than the original, in my opinion.

Love it too! I mean, that's a cover for X's sake! Had to put a little bit of something more than just singing into it. That way it has a new soul and an impressive strength. And well, I love the way Von Smith can make a show out of every song. Kinda "singin' actor" style - not the singin' that can just pass you by, but something that demands attention and takes you with itself, to fully enjoy the music. It's just perfect.

Man why have I not seen more of him? Besides the fact that he's got an awesome range, can conquer Sia in a style over half a century pre-Sia, and gets passionate about what he's singing in a way only someone who loves what they're doing truly can? He's straight up adorable. If y'all in the rest of the world aren't gonna give him the fame and set up he deserves at least let me be his friend or something, damn

He is fabulous. He reminds me of a male Nina Simone and people said the same nasty things about her but she is a legendary performer. This guy can sing which I am sure most of his detractors can't. Criticizing someone for their suspenders, hair style, pretentions, etc. is not a valid critique. It just comes off as mean spirited, vulgar and ill informed.

I'm afraid I have to agree. It's the way he drags the notes. Not necessarily in the way he acts but the way he presents his voice. When you see crooner you think effortless, easy to listen to yet powerful voice like Frank Sinatra or more modernly Michael Buble but the way he drags the notes and the many variations of his voice overcomplicate a style that's supposed to sound really smooth and effortless. I enjoy his Motown Taylor Swift's Shake It Off cover much better. Not only did he sound more natural but more soulful Motown may be more suitable for his dramatic voice.
