Gilberto Amauri de Godoy Filho, known as Giba (born 23 December 1976), is a Brazilian former professional volleyball player who played as an outside hitter. For much of the 2000s, he was widely regarded as one of the best volleyball players in the world. During his professional career he played in Brazil, Italy, Russia, Argentina and briefly in the United Arab Emirates. He is mostly remembered for his successes with the national team.
With the Brazilian National Team he won a total of 8 South American Championships, 3 America's Cups, 8 World League titles, 3 World Grand Champions Cups, three World Championships (2002, 2006, 2010) and the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he was the team's captain.
During summer 2014, Giba retired from professional volleyball at the age of 37

Se nao me engano entre 2001 a 2005 foi considerada a melhor seleção do PLANETA e de fato tem esses méritos eu acompanhava os jogos em 2004, 05 e o Brasil jogava fácil lembro que GIBA e ANDRÉ NASCIMENTO eram simplesmente absolutos nas precisões com as pancadas nos times adversários teve um jogo no mundial de 2003 contra o EUA em que um dos jogadores americanos no fim da partida deu uma declaração dizendo que era impossível fazer frente ou jogar de igual para igual pois a qualidade técnica e psicológica do Brasil era anos luz a frente das demais seleções

He was nt the taller , stroger, faster ,or smarter, of his team but he have a perfect control of his body that seems everything for him was like a slow motion and he have a good chance to make points he is a natural Leander when he is on the arena all he's team is motivated , he knows how to move the cheer the audiencie to play for his favor

Alguns nomes, como o de Giba, se destacaram, mas a seleção como um todo era fantástica! Gustavo um bloqueador extraordinário, Serginho simplismente o melhor líbero de todos os tempos, André Nascimento um atacante na saída e fundo excelente, Maurício e Ricardinho dispensam comentários, Nalbert nessa época não estava mais no auge do ataque, mas era um passador e um defensor fenomenal, Giovane também dispensa comentários. Essa seleção, entre titulares e reservas, era uma verdadeira constelação! Todo mérito ao Bernardinho também!

何度見ても本当に凄い！ ハッキリ言ってこの人に弱点はないですね！ パワーは誰しも観て分かりますが、スピードや反応も異次元で守りのレシーブやトスも超一流！！ 最高のヒーローです。 ここにはないですが、昔弾かれたブロックを追いかけて飛びついて相手側のコートにダイビングで返したシーンは叫んで鳥肌でした。 結果は惜しくもラインを超えてアウトになりましたが、あれを観た時に「これが世界のバレー」って思いましたね！ 一球入魂、不屈の精神こそがジバです！！
