Grasping the opportunity of the new information recently come to light, this documentary reveals how Britain's staunchly anti-communist Prime Minister was deceived into giving his full backing to the communist Tito and cutting all aid to the anti-communist forces resisting the Germans in Yugoslavia. But for that decision, the documentary argues, Tito would not have overcome his political opponents and have emerged as the country's undisputed ruler after the war. Churchill relied on information provided by two trusted advisors, Fitzroy Maclean and William Deakin, who passed on without verification what Tito told them. The deception was compounded by a communist mole at SOE headquarters in Cairo who withheld or doctored information from liaison officers with the anti-communist leader, Draza Mihailovic. The documentary explodes the myth of Tito as the heroic Partisan leader, plucked from obscurity by Churchill, who, unlike the rest of occupied Europe, fought the Germans throughout the war, liberating his country virtually unaided. The evidence is otherwise: *Tito used the munitions received from the British and Americans, not to kill Germans as promised to Churchill, but mostly to eliminate his political rivals. *He accused his political opponents of accepting weapons from the Italians while he was proposing joint action to the Germans to resist an Allied landing in the Balkans. *The Partisans' pestering of the Germans did little to hinder Hitler's utilisation of the local abundance in oil and minerals, so vital to the German war machine. *The German retreat from Yugoslavia was largely unharassed by Tito's Partisans, to Churchill's intense chagrin. *It was the Red Army which really freed Yugoslavia, not Tito's Partisans.*At the end of the war he massacred in cold blood countless thousands of anti-communist Yugoslavs handed over to him by the British in good faith *Within weeks of his much-vaunted 'difference of opinion' with Stalin in June 1948 Tito was keenly trying to rejoin the Soviet camp. That it has taken so long for the full story to emerge, the documentary suggests, is due to a concerted cover-up by a generation who had a vested interest in sustaining the myths surrounding Tito which they had helped to beget.

Perhaps it would be "nice" to try to explain who the chetnix, and the ustasha, too was. Or what they was, and what they has done in their "fervor." They was those who even the nazi ss was disgusted about how they carry out the crimes on population. And not only to accuse the partisans of killing the chetnix and ustashas. So to put it short, this video is a kind of rubbish.

This documentary is propaganda blended with truth. Chetniks were indeed killed in Slovenia, but they were not inocent anticomunists. The video doesn't explain their colaboration, and some chetniks were plain butchers. Also, victims of partisans revenge were not only chetniks, but also and quislings Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian State Guard and pure fashists Ustashas and Ljotić's volunteers.

No offense but ironically your comment is communist Titoist propaganda mixed with some element of truth. Thanks to declassified documents from wartime British and US archives we now know that Tito and his communist partisans regularly collaborated with the German Wermacht after Churchill was duped into switching his support from Mihailovic's anti-communist Chetniks to Tito's communist partisans in late 1943. This dubious switching of British support happened because a Stalinist communist spy in the British Special Operations Executive [SOE] in Cairo was feeding false information back to Churchill!! We now know from those declassified documents beyond a shadow of a doubt that not only did Tito collaborate extensively with the Germans in order to eliminate his anti-communist rivals - rather than fighting against the Germans - we also know that Mihailovic's successful guerilla operations against the Germans were falsely ascribed by this communist spy in Cairo as supposedly successful operations by Tito's partisans!! The communist spy in the British SOE was relaying messages falsely claiming that it was Tito's men who were doing most of the fighting against the Germans and that Mihailovic's Chetniks were supposedly passive and/or collaborating with the Germans. The complete opposite was actually true! In fact, Tito did nothing for almost 3 months after the invasion of Yugoslavia by the Germans. It was only after Operation Barbarossa - the German assault on the Soviet Union - and Stalin's specific instructions to Tito to install a communist government in Yigoslavia after the war - that was the primary motivation for Tito to finally begin guerrilla operations - and not because of any noble resistance against the Germans. *In fact, on November 9, 1944, in a field report to the US Office Of Strategic Services [OSS], US Lieutenant Colonel Robert McDowell, a Balkan specialist from the University of Michigan, disclosed that Tito's partisan units engaged in wholesale acts of terrorism against Yugoslav [mainly Serb] peasants!! It was Lt. Col. McDowell's "considered judgment" that during the months preceding the Soviet assault on Belgrade, Mihailovic's ill-equipped forces did far more than Tito's partisans to kill, capture, and disrupt the German Wehrmacht! Tito's partisans deliberately and needlessly provoked retaliatory strikes by the Germans on civilians in peaceful villages, by slipping into areas, killing a few Axis soldiers, and then stealing away - needlessly resulting in massive loss of civilian lives! Mihailovic was later posthumously awarded the "Legion Of Merit" by US president Truman - the highest US military honor and decoration for a foreign Allied fighter in World War 2. This was kept secret by our media and government for decades after the war!!* While its true that *_some_* of Mihailovic's Chetniks collaborated with the Germans fighting against Tito's partisans, the vast majority - including Mihailovic himself - did not do so. Mihailovic's show trial was a farce and as you can see from the wartime archival footage in the video, Tito's prosecutor had already declared his guilt BEFORE the trial had even begun! This is the problem with Tito's communist propaganda - he lumped in the worst perpetrators of the massive Holocaust in Croatia and Bosnia - primarily against Jews, Serbs and Roma [Gypsy] people - i.e., the Croat Fascist Roman Catholic "Ustashi" - with ALL anti-communist guerillas fighting against him! Tito's propaganda considered ALL anti-communists as equally guilty because of his rigid communist "class war" ideology. Lumping every anti-communist and monarchist together with Holocaust perpetrators was of course beyond absurd! But that's Tito's communist ideology for you. All of this was revealed in books authored by former SOE officer Sir Michael Lees and US historian David Martin who authored the critically acclaimed book "The Web of Disinformation: Churchill's Yugoslav Blunder". Lees was a former British SOE liaison officer who parachuted into Yugoslavia during the war. He authored the book - "The Rape of Serbia: The British Role in Tito's Grab For Power". Here's a quote by David Binder in the New York Times book review, "A Coffin For Mihailovic" : *_"Tracking his own experiences in Serbia from June 1943 to May 1944 against some newly discovered files of Britain's wartime Special Operations Executive, the office responsible for overseeing paramilitary operations, Mr. Lees paints a grim picture of official double-dealing. He documents how James Klugmann, a Communist, and Basil Davidson, a self-described leftist, both stationed in the Cairo headquarters of the Special Operations Executive, systematically discredited Mihailovic while undermining British material support for his forces. Their methods included manipulating battle maps and messages from the field, and attributing successful Chetnik military actions to the Partisans."_* *_"Mr. Lees goes on to show that William Deakin and Fitzroy Maclean, both British emissaries to Tito and both intimate with Winston Churchill, helped persuade the Prime Minister to abandon Mihailovic and back Tito, which Churchill did with finality on Dec. 10, 1943. Until then the Chetniks had received only 30 tons of weaponry from the British, while the Partisans had got 18,000 tons. Tito turned many of those British guns against the Chetniks."_* *_"Mr. Lees points out that Brigadier Maclean and Captain Deakin derived their evidence for accusing the Mihailovic forces of collaborating with the occupiers almost entirely from Partisan sources, which were blatantly biased. Neither spent any time with the Chetniks."_* *_"Yet for more than four decades, Fitzroy Maclean and William Deakin -- both prolific writers -- have been the main architects of the widely accepted view that Tito was a positive figure and Mihailovic a negative one. It is because he contests this received wisdom so passionately that Mr. Lees wrote his book."_*
