As someone else has mentioned the house next to that noisy bridge has stunning grounds that sweep down to the cut, would have been worth a view. Also the pub by your mooring does a superb buffet eat as much as you like breakfast from 9am.

We were out on this bit of canal on the same day as you - we stopped at Tixall Wide for lunch and then got going again, so probably passed you while you were still moored. I think we were slightly ahead of you as we ended up having to stop around Milford because the rain got so heavy and the sky started banging at us! We ended up making it to that field of cows above Deptmore Lock in the next video and moored there for the evening - before the noise from the M6 started to intrude. The cows took a great interest in us, but that's a story for another time!

It's lovely around there. The shops are a bit remote though, so lots of cycling required.

Back in the 60's the boat yard was where the garage is now. My family had a cruiser which my dad fitted out. That was our home section of canal and was great to see again.

I would have given a " THUMBS UP " sign, if I knew how to do it. I do, however, have a couple of questions. Is your boat a working boat, which carries cargo ? Does it take passengers ( holiday makers ) ? I would have liked to have seen the outside of your boat, and, if you take passengers, I would also have liked to have seen the inside. Having said that, I enjoyed the video, and would love the peace and tranquillity of a canal trip on a " NARROW " boat, which I might have called a " LONG " boat. Is there a difference ?

You see an illustration of my boat at the beginning of the video. Not a working boat. No passengers. It has been my home since 1990. The correct name for them is Narrowboat.

Sir having been away from the UK for a number of years I would really have appreciated seeing the wimpy, I am sure that you would found it worth while. And treated your self to what was one of the best burgers there were.

When you hear a change in the engine tone its usually means "there may be trouble ahead" Cavitation on the prop also needs prop cut and re-engaged.

The change in the engine tone is due to me using the throttle control.

with your comments about the busy roads, i am assuming no sidewalks. In that case, ALWAYS walk facing the oncoming traffic, so you can dive for the ditch if a texting driver doesn't notice you.

We used to moor at Great Haywood and found that stretch very pleasant. Now on the Llangollen so no longer local :(

This was a very relaxing vlog , and you seem a bit more upbeat than the last time I commented , what did you think of the Eckert Tolle book I mentioned , you were part way through It at the time .

Some beautiful spots you pass through are simply described as a ‘study in green’ thanks to all of the rain. The bridges that you pass beneath all look very similar. Were they mostly built at the same time as the canal system? 🍀
