@birdthrow

Not really. It's surprisingly easy, for instance, to buy a human skull... you go to a website, give them payment info, and a week later there's a box on your porch. It really would be faster, more authentic, and cheaper than having that many fakes fabricated. A lot of movie-making is all about cost-effectiveness.

The bit of trivia about the arrows in the Kurosawa movie is believed by many people, but it's wrong. The arrows were shot by actual archers, yes, but they were hollow and traveled along threads. The threads were meticulously removed from each frame. There's a similar shot in The Seven Samurai where one of the raiders is shot in the chest with a real arrow which lodged in a wood block beneath his costume. The commentary on the Criterion CD of the movie even claims that this was done via an expert marksman with no further safety precautions. I passionately argued with a guy that this is what happened after he told me that it was another hollow arrow on a thread. I only believed him after he went to the trouble of greatly blowing up the individual frames of this shot and making a video which played them slowly in sequence, and you could clearly see the area where the thread had been airbrushed out if each frame. Sorry... I loved the idea of this as much as anyone but it's just not true.

I feel the same. I could not care less about what happens to my body. Do your tests, take my skeleton, test my organs. I give no shits about that, just do it. But please, give some of it to my family. I'm 6'3 300lbs, there's enough to go around. Do your test, cook me up, test my organs whatever, I really don't care, I'm gone, but burn up some and give it to my family. Let them remember me and spread me wherever they wish. It really doesn't have to be me, just give them that symbolic gesture and we good. I'm either dead and blank, or I'm dead and in heaven, why would anyone ever care about body remains? My brother just died, I want to remember him and spread his ashes where I can, but does he care one bit? No, he's gone and on to either non existence or something more, and I promise you, if someone was worthy of heaven, it's him. I'm not, so fuck it, burn me up, spread my ashes, take your comfort and forget about me, that's the best we can do.

"the nuclear attack scene includes footage from real nuclear test detonations" - over an image of a nuclear weapon explosion which was simulated in water. It even looks like a lava-lamp. Some of the destruction footage the trees on fire and the buildings getting destroyed may have been from real tests, but the film makers were not allowed to use the footage of the actual explosion, hence why it looks so dreadful. It is misleading the way you talked about that film. Threads is also a much better and scarier film of this type, released one year later.

This is all nonsense, no actor should ever be put in a position where they can be hurt. Being a fan of a guy like Jackie Chan or Tom Cruise, shouldn't be promoted, it shouldn't be idolized or seen as tough/real. Tom is someone's son, Jackie is someones son, stunt people should be looked at the same. It's a fucking movie or a show, it's not important and never should any actor be pressured or incentivized to risk their health. We go from stage acting to this, it's nuts. You have shows like deathproof where a gal who wants to act, is on a car hood going speeds that could kill her with the smallest mistake. We should not now, nor ever, idolize actors doing their own stunts, and we should not now or ever, think that stunt people are lesser. Stunt actors shouldn't exist. If a movie needs that, it's not a movie that needs to be made. People's lives are far more important than Quentin Tarantino pressuring his actors to do stunts that could kill them. You make good movies, fantastic, all of your work, all of hollywoods and bollywoods and every single other movie or show featuring real humans, isn't worth one humans life. Not one, not now, not ever, you're making a fake bs story to entertain, none of it is worth any humans worth.
