Amazing run.
Parking and Highway weren't great. Parking had two sore spots (the beginning and the blues) but I played around the mistakes well enough. I missed a robot on Highway and didn't get great RNG on the dynamite throwers or the bomb dudes. Still only 4-5 seconds combined from what I realistically want from those stages. The last two stages were so good that it doesn't matter much anyway. Gold in both stages.
This is one of the those crazy outlier runs that rarely present themselves, and I was fortunate enough to capitalize on it. I was getting almost no runs deeps into the game then suddenly had this run spring up. Jumped right over 26:4x which is pretty dumb. Getting a 26:3x was a long term goal I didn't think I'd reach until later this year. Very happy with this time.
26:2x is feasible to get but will take a titan of a run. I'm going to let this one simmer for a while. This run will be very tough to beat.
Shoutouts to all who paved the path before me and to the Cinderella stream this run occurred in.

My late mother would approve of this, and then say she could do it at least 5 mins faster. Watching this made me smile and emotional, as if I was 5 again watching her play this again. The US version anyway. omqwat, thank you.

Да эта часть полегче , в детсве мучился зажатых клавиш "а" и "б" 😅 ,потом привык. Проходил игру чисто прыжками помню . На двух джостиках одновременно играл помню донателом играешь , а лео стоит и не двигается - прикрываешь его 😮😢😊

This is the Japanese version. Some enemies have less health and are able to be killed with a single jumpkick. There are also several other differences compared to the US version.

Do you prefer this over Turtles 3 in terms of finding it an enjoyable experience? I personally find this one very therapeutic thanks the auto-kill mechanic (the attack when your turtle jumps and attacks, one-shotting all Foot Soldiers). It just feels so satisfying.

If we're talking about from a speedrunning perspective Turtles 3 is pretty stressful since most of the game is spent one hit away from death so there's a constant tension. But overall it's more dynamic and feels better to play, so I find it more satisfying as a speedrun and an overall better game casually. I've also been playing 3 so long that I find the same therapeutic feeling playing it; it just feels good to play sometimes. Turtles 2 is definitely more leisurely and I completely understand the zen-like feeling of gliding through it. Both certainly have their own merits.

It's been so many years. Is this the Nes turtles game where you can't hit enemies consecutively without taking damage from that enemy's counter?

Yep. Foot soldiers have like an entire second of invulnerability after you hit them.

Also, I'm curious to know how you would rank the four major Turtles beat-em-ups (Turtles 2, 3, In Time, Hyperstone Heist).

I really only have experience with 2 and 3. I played through Turtles in Time once a few years ago and have never played Hyperstone Heist. I think the 16 bit games trim the fat a bit better. They play beautifully at a high level and have more variety in both attack options and enemies. Objectively, I'd say they got better with each iteration, with TiT and HH being close to equal. So I guess 5 = 4 > 3 > 2. Subjectively though 3 is my favorite.

What the hell? One hit with a jump kick???? And what's up with your points. I'm almost positive it takes to jump kicks to kill a foot soldier

This is the Japanese version. The points system is different and some enemies have lower health than in the US version. The foot soldiers are among these enemies, which is why they get killed with one jumpkick. You may also notice this version has significantly less enemies than the US version and doesn't have any of the Pizza Hut signs.

@@Omqwat Doesn't the Japanese version just have the jump kick do the same damage as the special attack, rather than enemies having altered hit points? I might remember wrong, though...

@@MosoKaiser It's from the enemies having lower health. For the Tora fight the most common strategy is to repeatedly jumpkick him and it takes the same number of kicks in both versions. If the kick did more he would die substantially faster in the Japanese version. Here's a document showing the differences: pastebin.com/4N6HBY6D

@@Omqwat Btw, it's interesting how these regional difficulty changes have gone down. Japanese TMNT 2 being noticably easier, but then stuff like Mad City getting cranked up to an absolutely brutal, nigh-unplayable ball buster when released in the west as The Adventures of Bayou Billy. And *both* were made by Konami. Wonder if there was some rental profits maximizing thinking going on... :D

А спидранер то читер ! Я сразу заметил , он где-то нарыл супер-легкую версию и играет в нее ! Я тоже так могу , а это видно по врагам ! Насколько они тут простенькие - с одного удара ноги выносятся , а в реале то им надо как минимум два удара то .

Это японская версия, у пехотинцев меньше здоровья, поэтому их можно убить всего одним ударом в прыжке. Есть и другие отличия, такие как система подсчета очков, меньше врагов и отсутствие вывесок Pizza Hut.
