TMNT Shredder's Revenge is finally out! This is a brand new beat 'em up developed by Tribute Games, which was heavily inspired by Konami's classic arcade games, and the early 90s era of the series. I grew up on this stuff, so it's nostalgic seeing all of the references to the cartoon, movies, and games. They packed so much into it, that they ended up with a run time of nearly 2 hours, making this one of the longest beat 'em ups I've ever played. That'll be somewhat polarizing, but I don't mind the length, personally.
Gnarly is the name for this game's hard mode. The normal difficulty is very easy to clear, and while Gnarly seemingly had very minor adjustments, it's quite a bit more difficult. From what I can tell they basically make you take twice as much damage, and bosses have twice as much health. I think some enemies also move faster or can be more aggressive, but I'm not really sure tbh. Still, you get 1UPs every 200 points, so you've got a lot of breathing room for mistakes.
Leonardo is pretty good all around. I like using his double jump attack (the spinning blade slash) more than the rest of the characters' floaty air smack, but it does leave him vulnerable on landing for a second. I think you can get around that if you go straight into a super, but I usually don't. Otherwise all of his moves are pretty good; his supers don't seem as effective as some other characters, but they still get the job done. For now he's probably my favorite turtle, but I haven't played the other ones much.
Anyway, it's a great game and I'll be playing it a lot more. If you're a fan of the classic turtles, you have to play this. It was made for you!

As someone who grew up watching the show on VHS, I’m so glad they got original 1987 voice actors to reprise as the turtles, bebop and rocksteady, Rat King and Rahzar for the game. ❤❤

One of his advantage is his spinning drop after jumping twice, he drops quickly to ground, it makes him stop aerial enemies from shooting and knock ground enemies instantly..

Leo's running attack hits like a truck, and you can chain it multiple times in a combo. Added to his good range and he's a pretty strong option, although his Dodge attack seems pretty weak as a whole. I'm also not a huge fan of his double jump attack, I tend to use them for avoidance so I prefer the floaty variant.

I used Leo on my first playthrough as well donny has range but his bo attacks are slow but hit like a truck just don't use his dash super if your in a crowd. You might get clocked from behind

You can actually stun lock enemies with his pizza cutter air attack if you land on the other side just right then jump back up and do it again, requires really strict timing.

Yep, they got the main four back to voice the Turtles they voiced as well as their respective villains. Don't know who voices Shredder, Splinter, and April, as they never reveal who does that in the credits.

Thanks for sharing the video. I just wanted to share what I would like to see and I think everyone who played it would agree. Remember how the first BattleToads game had louder and louder attacks? And also on Killer Instinct a similar concept with their combo system? Add that so the sound effects aren't repetitive but more interesting according to the player's inputs. That would be awesome.

Was waiting for this, I wanted to see you play through the game and confirm if the roll move allows doing a sort of dodge offset. Also wanted ask if you'll play Final Vendetta as well these days. Jitsu Squad is also another good one.

Late reply, sorry. I finally have free time to go through all of the comments lol. The evasion attack is just its own thing, you can't use it to hold your combo like in Bayonetta unfortunately. I'm definitely going to play Final Vendetta and Jitsu Squad too. I was going to try FV tonight, but it looks like the latest patch broke the game for some people (me being one of them), so I might have to wait for them to fix that. I played some Jitsu Squad instead, super fun game.

Gnarly difficulty is the only way to play the game. The other difficulties are way too easy.

Yes, I play on Gnarly as well. Can be tough towards the end of the game but manageable. I do that mode best with Donatello and April.

they most likely will add a harder difficulty down the line, similar to what SOR4 got with its dlc

@@dualshock3 Damage output is already high on Gnarly so I can't see it going any higher for damage. The only thing they can add to a new harder difficulty is to add more enemies on the screen and make them more aggressive which funny enough what SOR4 did.

@@mitu123Copper More enemies also leads to higher scores and more lives as well, which can actually make the game easier as a result. I think this is a problem SOR4 had with it's highest difficulty, although that game floods you with invincible options to stay safe regardless of enemies on the screen.

I tried Arcade mode myself and I’m sorry but it’s not much fun if you can’t save the game when you turn it off and go to do something else and you have to play through the whole thing like the games from back in the day.

You might be able to get around this if you play on systems that have a sleep or suspend mode. I think everything can do that except for PC. The game is indeed very long though.

They're both good, but in their current state Streets of Rage 4 is the better game. Surely the developers will get a lot of feed back in the next few months, and they'll be updating/improving the game.

This game is far more fun to play imo. It flows better and is just faster paced wich is my preference. SoR4 is still a great game though. With updates and DLC imo this game will be far better then SoR4. It's not really fair to compare content etc since this just came out. If we compare SoR4 as it was released vs this game as it was released I think TMNT SR is overall better.
