TMNT Shredder's Revenge is finally out! This is a brand new beat 'em up developed by Tribute Games, which was heavily inspired by Konami's classic arcade games, and the early 90s era of the series. I grew up on this stuff, so it's nostalgic seeing all of the references to the cartoon, movies, and games. They packed so much into it, that they ended up with a run time of nearly 2 hours, making this one of the longest beat 'em ups I've ever played. That'll be somewhat polarizing, but I don't mind the length, personally.
Gnarly is the name for this game's hard mode. The normal difficulty is very easy to clear, and while Gnarly seemingly had very minor adjustments, it's quite a bit more difficult. From what I can tell they basically make you take twice as much damage, and bosses have twice as much health. I think some enemies also move faster or can be more aggressive, but I'm not really sure tbh. Still, you get 1UPs every 200 points, so you've got a lot of breathing room for mistakes.
Casey is unlocked after finishing Story Mode. He's really good, too. It's hard to pick who the best character in the game is, but he's probably in the running. I think his only downside is that he's a little bit slower than some of the other characters, and his taunt seems to take a little bit longer (not sure, but Casey is the only character I've had trouble taunting Slash with - which isn't a big deal). Other than that he's got really effective combos with no annoying knockback or knockdown properties on them, and he deals good damage. He's a beast.
Anyway, this is a great game and I'll be playing it a lot more. If you're a fan of the classic turtles, you have to play this. It was made for you!
Shredder's Revenge is available on all major platforms, including Xbox/PC Game Pass.
On a side note, I think I've figured out a good strategy for Captain Zorax. You can basically see it in this video, though I have a better understanding of what to do now. Chrome Dome can also be annoying, but I think a no death clear should be coming soon. Maybe with my Donatello or Splinter runs. If I screw it up with them, I'll get it done with one of my favorite characters.

As someone who was born in 82' and grew up with these guys. Playing the game with my brothers online now that we are older reminds me of when we use to play Turtles 2 and Turtles in Time on the Arcade in our garage. ( Father was an arcade collector with 4 boys.) While playing I was hit with nostalgia the who time........... but something, something about the mall stage and the music hit me so hard I had to pause cause I almost started to cry cause of the huge train of emotions from my past being a latch-key kid in the 80's and 90's with my brothers. This ......... This is a true Turtles game and I could not be more proud of the developers.

Same here I born in 84 and remembered them in pre school in 88 and 89 and became a arcade beast in the early 90's played wit all 4 but Raph has always been my favorite Turtle to this day yea good ol memories

Thank you for this Casey Jones run. It too bad he Never says "Lawbreaker" in the game which he says quite A LOT in the cartoon. Besides that I'm glad we got a cartoon accurate Casey Jones in terms of look and aesthetic.

They say Raphael or Mikey is the best for solo runs. Casey and Donny are beast at Co-op with the rest of the cast somewhere in between.

So awesome that we got a developer that actually cared to get the game right. Played the original games, watched episodes of the original cartoon to get characters and environments correct, bringing all the original voice actors back.

That's basically true. The only difference being Lawrence Crock isn't clinically insane. Also, a character named Jack Wheeler aka Wild Dog also wears a hockey mask while fighting crime.

You can almost instantly charge the attack if you do it directly after your 4-hit combo, or after the evade attack. I don't think they mention that in the tutorial but it's really useful to know.

There was 3 Deaths at Episode 13 because of Casey's sluggishness and Chrome Dome. at Episode 16 there was no deaths unlike in your previous runs, you died at least once against Super Shredder.

Oh geez, I think the basics from SoR4. They're both tougher and take a heck of a lot more to take down, even with weapons. That and a few have skills they can run through hits like Bebop does, like those fat biker Women do and the Shredder's Revenge Basics don't take as many hits to down. (They're all robots by comparison either way.) So, I'd easily give it to SoR4 as they're also willing to KILL anyone who opposes them by comparison to Shredder and his Foot soldiers.

@@darkchild130 lol, he does. Also, the decision to my own question was kinda hard to answer since the enemies in shredder's revenge are a bit more aggressive, and have a slightly bigger moveset. Than again though, the enemies in streets of rage 4 have a pretty good moveset, which also does more damage compared to the foot solders. And if the have a weapon, they can do pretty dang good. Oh and correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time I check, unless they spawn with a weapons, thew foot solders can't pick up anything. And let's not forget that the sor4 enemies have more health than the real fake ninjas so yeah. I would personally bet on the sor4 enemies winning against the enemies in shredder's revenge.

I have an issue with the "Like the old day! " trophy. Completed it it showed in the achievement menu but when I restarted the game it still locked and hasn't mark completed. I used nintendo switch btw. Has anyone encountered this?

I don’t owe a Nintendo Switch, but I once had a trophy unlocked on my PS5 but during that time my wi-fi internet got cut during the trophy hit, so the trophy didn’t unlock when I checked. I had to call Somy and they told me to restore my licenses, which I did and it worked. Maybe try that?

So, the game is clearly based on the 80's toon, but wasn't Casey less like the Casey we know from the other shows and more like The Punisher mixed with Dirty Harry mixed with the Terminator or something? I guess this is 2003 Casey? Maybe he crossed over into 1980's TMNT like in Turtles Forever?

Never mind, looking closer it's 1980's toon Casey. The new voice threw me, but everything else adds up, right up to not taking off the mask even while eating a slice.

It's more of a one run arcade complete, the point of 1cc is to beat a game without using continues.

@@spyrojoe4721 Well, yes but no. You'll have to walk through the stages doing your best to avoid damage and gain more points. More lives you have, the longer the run can go.

@@spyrojoe4721 It sounds easier but honestly, the best way to 1CC this game is to go through the 1st 10 stages with little to no deaths because you want all the lives for the remaining 6 stages as they have some enemies and bosses that aren't fun to fight. You pretty much have to be perfect or else you can die quickly if you aren't careful.
