Nice presentation. A warning to NOT hook up yellow wires to modern can bus / LED bikes. They supply 12V and turn signals are sometimes 3-6V and they will blow more than a fuse. I bought some cheap, stand-alone 12v LED strips with the adhesive backing. You can chose your color. IF, I hook up the ignition kill, I'll wire in a bypass jumper - male female spade, bullet, etc., under the seat.

This is a very helpful video. The original instructions are truly terrible! I have a question if I may; regarding the blue "start" wire. When the button's pressed, this goes live for a couple of seconds to turn the starter motor. On my bike (xt600) all lives are permanently connected and switching is done by earthing. So, when you press the starter button all you are doing is completing the circuit by making an earth. So, as I see it, a low current live input for two seconds cannot be used to start the bike as everything is live anyway. I'm thinking that to use this function I will need to connect the blue wire to a 12v relay (other end of the coil earthed). One relay output is permanently earthed and the other connects to the live side of the starter button. So when the blue wire goes live it closes the relay and completes the start circuit by earthing it. Is this correct? Also, I thought I could connect the pink and grey wires across the sidestand switch as when the stand is down the cdi is earthed and will not generate a spark. I'd be interested in your thoughts and thanks again. Jolyon

Thank you for your video! My alarm that looks the same as you return to alarm mode after few seconds even if I disarm it. The only way I can stop the alarm when riding is with the lighning button. Damned!

Thanks for this video. I have this same system on my maxiscooter. It was installed by the previous owner. The ingnition start button never seemed to work but other than that the system worked fine. Since recently, all of a sudden, the system arms itself after being disarmed. It always happens afer 14-15 seconds. It even does so while the engine is running. The only way to stop it from happening is pressing the ignition start button/lightning key twice and putting it in 'ignition' mode. Do you have any idea why this would suddenly happen? Is it just broken or did I press a button combination for auto-arming. Thanks in advance.

The sensitivity is set by pressing lock button or alarm button 5 beeps is highest sensitivity 1 beep is the Lowest sensitivity

I suppose you have to start the bike from the fob to stop the cdi being earthed if both the pink and grey wires are connected.

There's something you didn't explanained I have one similar to this But it have a connector for 9v battery It have extra function , which is when you disconnect the battery and the device is in lock mode , alarm will start the sound using the 9v battery for power

I have found a fuse for power (removing fuse behaves like turning a key off - engine stops). I want to cut one of the cable leading to this fuse and put '2 cables' from the alarm connecting it again via alarm unit so when alarm goes off - the power is off. Which cables allows me to do that?

Do mine came with a 9v battery lead as well as the 12v to the bikes battery. It should have the 2 yellow wires but doesn't. Can I solder them to the board amd done have lights on the alarm ?

Hi Tim, I've recently purchased a second hand bike with a Spy 5000 alarm fitted which looks very similar to the one you have described here. I don't need an alarm and am worried about it going wrong at some point. In order to disable it do I just remove the power supply and earth cables, and will my bike then revert to normal operation ? I see on the board where it says lig1 and lig2 but nothing is going to the lig2 and going to the lig1 is a blue wire coming out of it with a rubber tip at the end of the wire??

Pretty sure the gray and the pink wires could be for vehicle location, once the remote is within range - flash the lights or beep the horn, or for a car, unlock the doors.

Isn't there wire for neutral gear? When you start and your bike is on gear, you have to run after it to catch it. 😅
