Love your videos! I'm currently going through TNT once more and it's surprising how much of it I no longer remember. Last time I played halfway seriously was probably back in the late 90s, so only the more memorable maps stayed with me. (Continues...). Or maybe you are looking for an exit and you don't expect it to be next to the entrance. That's how I fell while playing Wolf3D as a child, and I think Doom accentuates this even more. These games are about getting lost, falling into traps, dead-ends, adventuring through the map to reach some key and after that backtracking and trying to remember where that door was... And this often sucks for experienced players. But well, difficulty is what made the old games so much fun ;)

15:35 - I disagree. You're forgetting that you could have entered the area you're in from that other side. It gives the player more freedom about the way they want to approach the map. It's not dumb at all. It makes the map better.

15:58 BMD, I think you're a bit confused; That switch can be pressed any number of times. You're thinking of the hallway trigger, that only works once. There's also a switch behind the blue bars that re-lowers the lift.

You could consider this map ugly, of course, however this is the first time i disagree with you. I remember this map with joy, cause i really enjoyed it. By the way, it's only a point of view, you're a very nice guy, and your commentaries, as well as your skills, make this walkthroughs a jewel

At 15:30, it's not uselessly going back to the starting area! I actually came from there when I played this map just now. It's surprising you came from the other direction.

Oh yeah! The music "DOOM" from Doom II is back. And you nearly died thrice: once when fist-fighting the Barons of Hell, once when chainsawing the Mancubus, and once when you stepped on the lowering platform and got attacked from behind by the gunners. Ouch! Otherwise, nice witty comments, as usual, especially with the "fisting" innuendo. :D

I like the concept for this map, like you are actually traveling through some hideous beast's lair, it makes it more exciting! The way I always saw games like Doom and Wolf3D is that they can be unpredictable, specially Doom. And I say so taking into account casual players, someone who just doesn't know the map, unlike max-runners or speed-runners. Maybe you keep backtracking for minutes and get lost, and finally realize the correct way to go was... through a wall! (Continued...)

Awesome job punching out those 2 barons of hell. There are quite a few barons of hell in this map. You almost died at the end with that ambush near the exit. Bad Mancubus when you used the chainsaw, just bad. Awesome job BigMacDavis1.

7:05 To have them in-fight, right after you get red key, go back up to the 2 red bars that popped up. They will get stuck at the 2 red bars trying to hit you and start infighting 😊 Also, before i run up the stairs, I kill the 2 bigger monster on the leftside, then I run up past the upper aracnotron and kill that last cage from up top.

I remember this music from "The Waste Tunnels" and "Downtown".

The switch in the room with the archvile works more than once. I flipped it many times trying to get the archvile back down after it had went up.

4:30 I think you are doing it a bit in the wrong order. When I played it, I emerged from the top. I depends on which corridor you take in the round lava room. 15:25... Well down there was the blue key :) If you didn't go to this section in the very beginning, you just would have returned to the start, killing a ton more enemies.

Just finished this map and I think it is possible to end it without the yellow key. Just grab the red key in that hidden room and then go straight to the red bars, so in there you get the blue key and then go for the final area. Never tried it but it would be an ideia for those who want to cut down the journey and don't like backtracking, though you won't get 100% everything. I don't mind backtracking as I like exploring all the corners in a map and always go back around for goodies and ammo before moving to the next level.

Too much backtracking in this map! And it was cool that I saw you punch out Barons for the 1st time! Makes you 20% cooler, but it could have been better. After a short map that was Quarry, now we have this long one! Makes you think that the next few maps would be shorter, but not so.

Wow 11 years old. I'm playing this now very loopy level with narrow hallway that loop around and bring you different directions. Sometimes fun, but this was a little tricky and confusing made me laugh though. Just trying to figure out how to get those 2 rad suits unless they are troling me and not accessible 😅

I got both the cacos to infight the revenant and the cacos won! 8:54 I was really confused about that skull switch, as I heard something lower down but couldn't find it. Wonder how you could you do this level without using the map. Btw I REALLY loved this map!

I agree this map blows!! It’s just way to much stuff you have to do to get to the next part of the map. Down this tunnel, hit this switch, skip this tunnel or you back track, grab radiation suits, teleport here but not there. Now teleport there, only to return back to the beginning to double track down a tunnel you had to skip to get to an area you have already been to to get a freaking key and then go all the way back to the beginning. I mean dude, this map sucks. It’s not just room or design themes maps need to stick to it’s also the problem solving. Like habitat sucks but at least it’s just tunnel running, worm hole kinda sucks with all the lowering stair cases so does the pit, but that’s all. This map has the suck of every map combined. That’s why good game play and monster placement end up sucking big.

btw. if this map had not caverns it would be 50% smaller and more compact. and it would play nicer. its too claustrophobic or something...

What it was, was that doom2 was reported to have a huge following, swelling of fanatics, which was an exaggeration from concerned parents, so they thought there would be a huge demand from people for much larger levels, even highly skilled well known maps, but actually the interest was not that high, they were expecting that it would take off to be something like mlb or professional bowling or even ping pong, but it just didn't happen. Most of the tnt maps were designed to be much more intensive and enemy populated. They were selling different versions of tnt for years, with more monsters and a larger variety of map.

Nice job punching out those enemies! I agree with you about how big & lame this map is in terms of design. The areas after the red key are alright, but the brown caverns and the huge amount of backtracking make this map disappointing.

If your going to play Scythe 2 in the future you definitely gonna need to improve your punching skills trust me Map 26 Death will make you wish you were good at punching enemies.

I guess this is the worst TNT level for me so far. Firstly, too many traps, which quickly become predictable and annoying. Secondly, red key behind invisible wall, I needed your video to find it. Lastly, just too many dark rooms and overall chaotic level design. One positive though, I was able to find all secrets on my own, which rarely happens, cause I don't care about them that much. Probably because I was looking for the red key everywhere...

This is a trouble map , trouble gameplay and theme of the map is stupid. There nothing nice I can say about this map. This is up there with downtown from doom 2 as my least favorite map.
