It’s Sttiiiiiinngg! And you’ll discover exactly how he came to be at AEW, and all that went into The Icon’s surprise debut! Sting recounts his conversations with Tony Khan, his first steps backstage at Dynamite, walking through Gorilla on his way to the ring, the snowfall at Daily’s Place, and the fans’ reaction to his appearance. He also talks WCW, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and his surreal, final match at WCW. And Sting shares stories about the evolution of his character (from neon surfer Sting to The Crow version), his relationship with Dusty Rhodes and the Rhodes family, his early days tag teaming with Jim Hellwig (aka Ultimate Warrior), what Hacksaw Jim Duggan said to him the first time they met, his Wrestlemania moment, WWE Hall of Fame induction, and Vince McMahon.

I was into the Horsemen, Steamboat, Magnum TA, Nikita Koloff, Rick Rude/Manny Fernandez, Barry Windham, The Freebirds. Sting came on the scene in 1987 and lit the industry on fire. I was in high school at the time...right around the time I had a teenage free-for-all party at my house. It was late summer/early fall. Sting was an avenger fighting for his company not being taken over by NWO, he was the soul of WCW fighting for its survival, phantom of the arena if u will. I’ve been a huge fan of Sting ever since I started watching WCW back in 1997 when he made the transition to the Crow gimmick. Because of him I’ve watched WCW all the way until the very end. Then I switched to TNA to watch Sting. Finally seeing him make his debut in WWE literally gave me goosebumps. It’s a darn shame they misused him. Having Triple H beating him at Wrestlemania was a deplorable move. Not along after that due to an injury Sting announced his retirement at the Hall of Fame which was a sad day. Thought I’ll never see Sting geared up walking in the ring again wielding the bat. Seeing Sting in AWE is such a historic & surreal moment. It would’ve been perfect if it was a jam packed arena in front of live crowds. The crowd would’ve pop so hard for the Stinger. Especially hearing how exciting Tony is. Really takes you back to the good old WCW days.

Forever a scorpion! Sting will and always be my favorite wrestler. At 34 now.. he played a bigger role than I wouldn’t realize until later in life. The whole series of 97-98 his silence, from his character change from light to dark, mystery and silence.. these are freaking amazing strengths outside of the ring. Much love to Steve aka The Stinger! Thank you!

Sting hands down is one of the most humblest dudes man. To hear Tony and J.R. together again calling matches takes me way back to my child hood. Love you guys. Thank you for everything you've done for the business, but thank you for the memories. I know get to share these memories with my brother and my children. Thank you so much.

Sting's "Seek And Destroy" was the best WCW entrance music ever. The Road Warriors had Sabbath's "Iron Man", The Fabulous Freebirds had Skynyrd's "Freebird" before "Badstreet", Manny Fernandez & Rick Rude had Queen's "We Will Rock You", Midnight Express had Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase". NWA/WCW caught on early to getting licensed music for nationwide broadcast. But Flair started it in my book with Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (The 2001 Theme).

I love Sting... At WCW.. at TNA.. where I think he cut one of the best shoot promos of ALL TIME against Samoa Joe leading up to Bound for Glory 08.. the one about legends.... he was gaining momentum in my eyes in WWE until his unfortunate accident....I am so very very glad he is now with AEW on a long term deal👍👍👍

Seeing Sting's face almost makes me wanna cry tears of joy. I fell outta wrestling about a year into the Wolfpack and haven't really followed since but Sting is an idol in a way to me. I honestly look at Sting as a wrestling god but I know he's religious and probably doesn't like that saying so I don't say that often. Sting really seems like a beautiful person. He seems humble and intact. Connected. I will always love him. I've never been close with my dad, he moved out when I was young but I still saw him every couple of weeks. Seeing Sting without makeup honestly reminds me of seeing my dad as a young kid....they don't look alike, that's not what I'm saying...but it has that familiarity. Sense of caring. Lmao sorry I just wanted to share that with you I guess

@@MrManfly so? theres people in their 20s and 30s balding. Brodie lee had a giant bald spot. Didnt hear no one talking about that. The rock started losing his hear 15 years ago and started shaving it. Stone cold was balding in the 90s. But bc everyone happens to know stings age, they have to point it and other flaws out.

This was the podcast I’ve been waiting for. I’m 35 years old who lives in Toronto Canada and I never watched WWE growing up (even though WWF used to come here all the time for live shows back then) as a kid because I grew up on WCW and Sting quickly became my favourite wrestler and to this day he is still my favourite wrestler of all time. The very first WCW Show I ever saw was Superbrawl 4 with my uncle and that same night I turned down going to a live WWF show with my aunt. Best decision I ever made.
