Seeing Belle so calm while being casted in the sock and taped I feel like is a testament of how much trust she has in Martin. They did mention they don't normally go that far with her in her typical coping so I bet this felt out of the ordinary for her.

This is an exceptional educational vid series' episode. Belle is such an awesome patient! What a true sweetheart, and the bond/trust between Martin and Belle is just heartwarming. Susan is always there to assist and so kind as well. TY. Key point: no anesthesia, do way BEFORE taking bird out to hunt, be gentle, SAFETY of all.

There a cone shape dremel tool that works very well for copeing beaks as well. That what i use on my parrots to keep there beaks sharp.

Exactly!! It is a risk to put any bird under anesthesia. Brilliant idea with the nylon!!! Love it. Great video 👊

Wonderful timing! I am in Spain right now caring for a pigeon with a very overgrown beak with slight scissor beak while i wait to hear from a rescue group if they can help. I expect i might have to take care of the beak myself, there is only one rescue for birds in the area and they take a few days to respond in my experience. Shes eating oatmeal with rice and corn pretty ok, given shes got misaligned chopsticks on her face XD

It's incredible how effective you are and how patient Belle is. Cats and dogs are often much less compliant. Maybe better techniques should be developed for them.

It's been a long time (real long) since I handled a hawk, but I remember how worried/cautious I was about handling her head while she had the hood on. Maybe it was wrong or right, I don't know, but I decided to never touch the hood except when putting it on or taking it off, and then never to twist it or move it laterally too much. I was concerned how the extra leverage from that hood might cause excessive and injurious force on her neck. Conceptually, I related it to how much easier it is to swivel or bend somebody's neck when they're wearing some tight-fitting helmets - it added leverage. I also recall being obsessed with finding the lightest possible hood - at one point I tried making one out of just a fabric - didn't work so well. On the other hand, I definitely saw the protective values of a solid leather hood while transporting Nef.. protective in terms of calming her of course, as well as against an accidental bump on her head on the side of the box or in the car.
